Ward D: A gripping psychological thriller

This is the 2nd book by this author I have tried. I just don’t understand all the hype. Her characters are extremely juvenile and I just can’t get through them. Read more I received an ARC ( Advance Review Copy) of Freida’s latest book, Ward D. After one night of interrupted sleep, and a break for a few hours watching The Masters golf tournament, it was finished.

again I can see a woke person reeling in disgust by the language. Yet truer words were never spoken. My thought, I think the very nice and naïve people who have to put up with the savages that most are in this world are the highly susceptible ones. Amy is portrayed as a medical student, and is in her third year (I believe). However, when she’s instructed to give an intramuscular injection, she completely froze and had no idea what to do. This is probably one of the easiest things a person can do, I’ve been giving myself intramuscular injections at home for my disability for years, and I learned from the insert how to do it. After three years in medical school, I’d expect her to have learned that and a whole lot more, but she seemed so ignorant about anything related to medical or psychiatric treatment. As for the psychiatric diagnoses, she sounded like she read straight from the DSM rather than actually knowing the information.Joker & Harley Quinn wannabes taking on the patients at the psychiatric Ward D in Freida McFadden’s newest (entertaining, but insensitive) psychological thriller. 🤪 For me this one is (more silly than serious) with some pretty animated characters. The Mad Hatter could be possibly in for the night, or Spider Man may make an appearance!🕸️ Amy Brenner is a medical student and just recently went through a breakup with her boyfriend, Cameron. Although she would have preferred to not be assigned to Ward D, it was a terrific way for her to earn extra credit and to take her mind off of her breakup. Ok so I think the fun has gone on long enough, but just in case you aren't convinced that this is an absolute shit show, let me leave you with this stunning excerpt from the epilogue:

Moreover, the fast-paced nature of the novel was a major contributing factor to its appeal. McFadden has crafted a diverse cast of characters who bring an eclectic atmosphere to the ward. I found myself engrossed in their individual stories, each contributing to the overall tension and suspense. Additionally, the inclusion of a subtle romance element added another dimension to the story, leaving me emotionally invested in the characters’ relationships. A major head spin filled with twists and turns that McFadden has so regularly and the aspect or her books I love so much! p. 95 How does somebody get to the point where their brain stops functioning, like a normal brain? That their reality completely breaks from the reality that every person in the world lives in? There isn’t much that surprises me when it comes to reading books. I’m what you’d call a seasoned vet. Having said that, you have to be a pretty good author to fool me in a story line, but I have to say McFadden did an amazing job in keeping the reader guessing. And I’m afraid my husband is a murderer.” freida mcfadden’s thrillers are absolutely delectable and just so much fun. while i’m still new to the author, her storytelling & writing style make it so difficult to put down her books and just have your mind swirling with theories. That’s all you’ll get from me about the plot/storyline. Anything else could be a spoiler, and no spoilers allowed here!
