This is the first of two children's books about honesty by Jon Klassen. Bear asks the animals if they have seen his lost, red, pointy hat, but they all deny seeing it. He feels dejected and worries he will never see his hat again. When a deer helps him remember, the bear confronts the guilty animal. I wasn't familiar with the author when I came across this title but it sounded interesting. I'm so happy I listened to this one! Beyond the fact that the author had a very unique childhood, he proves to be a great storyteller. The author begins to be purposefully dishonest, in what seems to be a social experiment to determine if this will make more people like him. I expected there to be a little more self-reflection by the end of the book, but the conclusion seems to be that his over-honest approach is superior, and just not appreciated enough by ‘most people’: To Be Honest is another sharp, witty novel from Maggie Ann Martin, about a spunky heroine who is dealing with very real issues—body image, parental pressure, loneliness, first love, and finding your way—with heart and humor.

Fred the Bear is training for the Best Bear in the Woods competition. When Boris the Bear steals Fred’s roar, his friends rally around. He realises it is best to forgive Boris, who soon sees the errors of his ways. Pro: Grace and Savannah were a great team, and I always love a healthy and positive female friendship. Savvy is in High School & we also get to follow her life outside her home which balances out against her home life. Savvy has an amazing best friend who she enjoys spending time with. She’s also a math tutor on the side but her real passion is journalism. There’s a a really caring teacher who encourages her not to drop out of working on the school’s paper & it leads to the sub-plot of this book. We see Savvy uncovering some under the table dealings with one of the athletic departments. We also see her tutoring turn into something more than & I cannot tell you the number of times I found myself smiling for SavvyI have to start off by talking about the HEALTHY fat rep of of main character Savannah. I know having a fat girl on the cover on a book that isn't called something like "Fat Girl on a Plane" or "Blubber" meant so much to so many people. Me included. Btw, not shading those books - it's just hard being a fat girl and all the books that include you having an embarrassing title. At least that is how I feel. I hope we see a lot more healthy representation like this on covers. An honest person is someone truthful and reliable. They are typically fair-minded and have a strong sense of integrity. On the other hand, a dishonest person is deceitful and untrustworthy. They often have little regard for others and often act out of self-interest. Those in the highest levels of global influence would do well to snap out of it and “reset,” based on a thorough TBH read. It would also be fantastic in some form as curriculum in K-12. But the lessons are deeply and immediately relevant to us all. Gift this book to yourself and others you care about today. This book, to me, was very much about being fat, body image, self-love, anxiety, and how all of it plays into a person’s self-worth. And it all felt very authentic. The funny: At the age of 4, Leviton's grandmother takes this little Jewish boy to see Santa at the mall. After explaining to him that Santa has a magical sleigh and travels around the world leaving presents under everyone's Christmas tree, she has this dubious little boy sit on Santa's lap. When asked what he wants for Christmas, he replies, " 'I'm Jewish.'

To Be Honest: Lead with the Power of Truth, Justice and

Her mother’s character is complex but written so well, Sometimes I pity her, Sometimes I feel her but mostly I hated her. Libby has been telling the absolute truth since her mama told her, “Tell the truth and shame the devil.” When everyone gets mad at her, she realises there is a right way to tell the truth. Omg, and I can’t forget about the journalism side plot! Savannah and her best friend team up to investigate a scandal involving the old, misogynist baseball coach at their school for the school’s newspaper. Even though this plot was entirely unrelated to the rest of the story, I loved reading about it (and obviously, I loved seeing the douchebag of a baseball coach get his ass handed to him by two teenage girls).I'm sorry that someone taught you to hate yourself because of your body somewhere along the way, but I'm not going to let you pull me down with you." love yourself when things are hard, when you make mistakes, when you give up before trying, when you don’t workout for the second day in a row, when you lay in bed all day, when all you feel is sadness, when a promise is hard to keep, when you don’t know what to say, when you say too much, when you fail, when you don’t want to. love yourself even when you don’t feel like it"

Our main girl, Savannah is dealing with a mother, who recently divorced, became obsessed with losing weight and was a weight loss show and now is a poster child for it. Savannah and her mother have a very strained relationship at best and her sister, Ashley (whom she is very close to) is moving away to college - which means she will have to deal with her mother's obsessive ways by herself. This what the story focuses around the most - her family and coping with all the new changes and challenges. She does have a few other things going on though, such as a new boy taking interest in her and doing an expose piece on the boys sports team with her best friend Grace.Nice to meet you all,” Yael said. Her fingers tapped against the doorframe as she waited for something, anything to happen while we all stared at her. I turned to Ashley for a moment and tried to send her a telepathic “Grab the damn duct tape!” but she didn’t catch my drift. Honesty is the foundation of trust, and relationships cannot thrive without trust. Additionally, honesty is essential for making good decisions. When people are honest, they can more easily identify their right choices. No matter how many times Ashley tried to broach the subject of her leaving this summer, I would always turn my head and plug my ears. I couldn’t bear it then and suggested that we push off any sad or mushy conversations to the very last minute. I was a professional procrastinator in all things. Especially feelings. Zot, an alien from a colourless world, visits Earth to find his own happiness in its colour. He steals the colour, including an orange balloon, from a small boy. Zot takes off in his spaceship but changes his heart when he sees the devastated child.
