Landing on a swirly mark moves you forward a number of spaces equal to the spaces you moved to land on it. This is interesting as you may want to ‘restrict yourself’ to 4-5 points just to land on a double space. Like a lot of these type of games where all of the players rush to do something at the same time, really aggressive players can ruin the game. There will regularly be two or more players trying to place a disc in the same space at the same time. This could lead to some minor injuries as players accidentally slap or scratch one another. With aggressive players things could get quite a bit worse. I still don’t think there are many direct replacements for this game. I guess the ideas been done right, so, you just update it year after year? The simple rules and wide subject matter make it a great choice for families, or a lightweight trivia starter to your game night.

Being a pure speed game, Tension is a game that some people are going to be great at while others are going to be terrible. Since the game relies entirely on speed, the player(s) that are best at speed games are always going to win. Meanwhile players who struggle with these type of games are rarely if ever going to win. Unless all of the players are about equally skilled in speed games, this kind of leads to a boring game where one or two players are always going to win while the other players have no chance of winning.
