Raw Is a dark, profound, suspenseful read with a few pleasant surprises. Like Twitch, it's hard to put a label on it, so I'm just gonna go with... Read It! Our heroine, Lexi swoons over this mysterious stranger, Twitch, who made his presence known by stalking her as a shadowy figure in a hoodie. He then inserted himself in her life when she needed him to rescue her from a dangerous situation. India’s primary espionage agency and Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) have long been at odds in a long-standing battle for influence. While Raw's first two issues appeared within the same year, five months apart from each other, it became an annual magazine from 1981 on. Spiegelman wanted the magazine to remain pure and not turn into a business. Therefore it had no regular publishing schedule. The third issue rolled from the presses in July 1981. Issue four came out in March 1982, followed by the fifth exactly one year later. Readers had to wait a little longer for the next issue, namely until May 1984, while the 7th arrived exactly one year later. It took two years, in September 1986, before the 8th issue could be found in stores. I think he was disappointed that he didn't manage to get the horrified reaction he was expecting out of me.

Lexi has come a very long way both literally and figuratively. Yet, she is somewhat naïve in her interactions with “Twitch”. The reasonable part of her knows that he is not even a suitable partner in life, given her goals and aspirations…but her heart is pulling her in the direction of Twitch. He is awakening something inside of her that heretofore lay dormant…undiscovered. So within this past year, I sent off my first ever CGC submissions. My first in February, returned early June. I have since sent off two (August and October) and they have not returned. It’s the standard story, Brett hates the world, gets into trouble a lot, gets sent to a rehab facility to straighten him out and befriends the man in charge who uses tough love and friendship to get him to change his ways. It leaves you feeling unfulfilled and while there is character development, it’s unsatisfying and a bit cheesy at times. The cover was so off putting and the story was not something I’d have chosen to read, but it wasn’t as bad as I’d expected.

Theirs is not quite a “hearts and flowers”romantic love story, but a love story nonetheless told to us in alternating first person POVs. I wanted to read this book after seeing the author may be the author in the mystic book box for the next month. As soon as I saw it was a stalker romance, I knew that I needed to read it ASAP. and I'm so glad that I did. What can I say about Twitch? He is someone you want to tell that 'it's going to be okay' even though you know it won't. This is exactly what Alexa tells him when he is eight years old, and she is six. She tells him it'll all be okay, and he held onto that. Only now he's an adult and not everything was okay. Robbie Scully (Frog) is Brett's 12-year-old roommate (p.34) . He is at The Farm because of shop lifting offences (p.123). Throughout the book a brother-like relationship forms between Brett and Frog (Robbie).
