About this deal

Also some of the conflict in the book might be a little contrived/cliche/predictable. Didn't bother me in this circumstance, but might bother others.

As the story progresses, Ryen learns more about Masen’s past, particularly about his sister, Annie. This revelation adds depth to their relationship, as Ryen realizes the weight of the secrets Masen has been carrying. Masen unexpectedly finds Ryen in a compromising situation in her bedroom. Their chemistry is palpable, and they share an intimate moment. Their relationship is passionate but filled with secrets. After their intimate encounter, Masen leaves Ryen’s room, ensuring he isn’t caught by her family. Their relationship is still clandestine, and they both seem to enjoy the thrill of sneaking around. In Punk 57, Misha hated everything Ryen stood for. At the same time, he couldn’t deny his attraction to her. There is just something meaty about her characters and her writing that make her books oh so chomp-able. I'm sure we would all act differently as teenagers - care about certain things less and other things more - if we knew then what we know now, as they say, no?As time passed, they formed an odd little bond between each other, one built on being themselves and talking about their desires, dreams, aspirations, their insecurities, and a little bit of music. and I am amazed at myself for thinking a 17 year old should have the AWESOMENESS that I have fought so hard for.

asks. It’s Saturday night, so it’s possible. But… “Roofers will be here tomorrow to fix the leaks,” I explain. “Teachers are being asked to stay out of the building for safety.” I look around at all of them. “You know what to do?” “Yep.” “Absolutely.” “Ready.” Okay, then. “Let’s go.” As a writer myself, I know how it is to write female characters. It is hard. I’m all for twisted characters. They can start as an horrible ass, but they will grow in the story and learn something. Ryen doesn’t. She doesn’t change at all. She’s just a spoiled brat bully surrounded by terrible friends. If someone changed, this is Misha, who changed to fit what she wanted of a guy and became a bully himself. Punk 57 Book Review: How Ridiculous It All FeelsIt’s just sad that because of that, many readers give this book 5 stars, ignoring all the rest. By the time I got to the sex scenes, I hated them both so much that I almost felt like skipping their intimacy moment. Punk 57 Book Review: There’s a Cool Plot Twist This is my second book by Penelope Douglas. The first I've read from her was CORRUPT, and that was lent to me by a kind GR friend via Kindle. I thought CORRUPT was okay, with reservations. I don't normally go in for erotica, especially erotica that reads like straight-up porn. All the men in that book were misogynistic and rapey, too, which added another level of nope. But the plot was decent and she was good at setting a decent pace, so I sort of half-enjoyed, half-wtf'd my way through the thing and at the end of the book, I wasn't mad. It was a flawed but decent read. This story features two characters with strong chemistry. However, this is one relationship that should be completely forbidden. In the "Note From the Author" section at the end of the book, Douglas says something that I think is worth sharing:

Punk 57 fits in a very specific subgenre called: Dark High School Bully Romance (contemporary, not paranormal) Is Punk 57 appropriate? Punk 57 will take you for a ride, a very unexpected one. I was blindsided multiple times throughout and I couldn’t get enough! I lived and breathed this book. It just consumed me. It may come as a surprise to many of you that I used to read so many of these books it was almost exhausting. I got to the point where it became mundane, meaningless, and I felt like I was trapped in a pretty bad book funk. And I was-that’s the problem.Slipping the paper into my glove box, among a few other of my favorites of Ryen’s letters, I take my pen, hovering it over the notepad that sits on my lap. Did you enjoy Penelope Douglas’s writing in Punk 57? If so, you should read another one of her books that couldn’t put down – Birthday Girl. This story follows college student Hannah, who’s great at everything except romance. She has no idea how to get her crush to notice her. I don’t think I'm really that much of a romantic person but I do know one thing for sure. When they created the word "romantic" Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 Chapter 8 Chapter 9 Chapter 10 Chapter 11 Chapter 12 Chapter 13 Chapter 14 Chapter 15 Chapter 16 Chapter 17 Chapter 18 Chapter 19 Chapter 20 Chapter 21 Chapter 22 Epilogue Letter to Delilah Note from the Author Punk 57 Lyrics
