About this deal

Because it turns out that in the mid 90's, Electrical Engineer PhD Floyd Toole came up with a method called Spinorama. This is exactly what he accomplished with this. Turns out that his book Sound Reproduction is like the bible of audiophiles.

Because I thought 50 W vs 30 W woofer difference would cause a bigger gap in loudness, but then I've learned something: The variation between modes isn’t a huge change, just enough to hear the difference. But, bearing in mind this is a small Bluetooth speaker, it does well to offer more manual tuning. You can even change the brightness on the indicator lights if you want – a lovely option that shows Marshall has thought about this in great detail. While I have zero complaints about what’s on the Acton II, I was disappointed that there aren’t more inputs available. An RCA connection for a record player or a Wi-Fi/ethernet connection for wireless connections would have been welcome - especially considering the price. I want my new speaker to sound good and sufficiently loud, but I also want it to be a nice looking piece in my living space, rather than just a metal box. The winner doesn't change here - it's Stanmore II. And the reason is the same: More powerful woofer.

In the end, this becomes an advantage for Kilburn II in terms of scoring higher with the decibel metric. Unique, iconic vintage and classic design which looks elegant and comes with textured vinyl cover, the salt and the pepper fret. This speaker is neither made of plastic nor of metal, rather it has a wooden frame which balances the sound making it sound natural. If you sense a slight twang of disappointment throughout this review, it’s only because I had flawless hopes going into the testing. These hopes were based on the myth of Marshall, and the powers it demonstrated with its recently released, excellent earbuds. For regular sized apartment flat rooms up to, say, 160 square feet (15 square meters), would Acton II Bluetooth volume be sufficient? On top of the speaker there are control knobs for volume, bass and treble – all of which light up indicator bars to show what level they’re at. These are flanked by chunky metal buttons to play and pause, or switch between Bluetooth and auxiliary line-in. On the far end of that top bar you’ll find the power switch and the 3.5mm aux port.

Granted, some people will want a lot more in the way of features for this price, but I personally didn’t mind because it means Marshall has put every effort into make this speaker sound as good as it possibly can instead of delivering a long list of unnecessary extras. Marshall Acton III review: also consider Here is a link to the manual for the Kilburn II, https://support.marshallheadphones.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000356678-User-Manual-Kilburn-IILe + : conception sans PVC qui comprend 70 % de plastique recyclé ainsi que des matériaux 100 % vegan. One thing it can do is adjust the sound depending on the placement of the speaker in your home. You open the app and choose Placement Compensation, which then lays out questions about whether the speaker is close to an edge or not and whether it’s close to a wall or placed in a corner. The speaker will do the rest, giving you the best audio experience possible for where you plan to keep it.

When connected, you will know Alexa is awake by the illumination of the speaker’s five blue LEDs across its front panel, while its far-field voice recognition means you shouldn’t have to scream commands from the other side of the room. Also, Marshall speakers don't propagate sound 360 degrees (unlike Beoplay M5, for example). So the distance from the speakers is also a primary factor here. I'll assume it's either corner or wall placed. If not, shift these values accordingly. Having previously used Marshall's own app to successfully set-up the Marshall Stanmore, having Google Home now so baked into the process seems rather pointless. So do the unnecessarily high volumes. I was wondering about the differences between Marshall's Acton II vs Kilburn II speakers as they're roughly the same size.
