About this deal

Metronome. The Metronome button on the front panel turns the metronome on or off and also enables the modification of settings via button key combinations. You can use a USB cable* to connect this instrument's USB port to your smartphone, tablet, or computer, and use the B2 as a MIDI keyboard to play an external sound module. Your performance on the B2 can be recorded as music data on your smartphone, and sound from your smartphone can be heard through the speakers of the B2. It also hugely depends on the software and how it allocates memory to avoid noticeable note cut offs. While testing the B2, I didn’t have issues with polyphony. You may wonder how it is possible to have 32, 64, or even 128 notes playing at the same time, if there are only 88 keys and we never play them all at once.

This includes the standard B2, the B2SP (that includes a wooden furniture-style stand plus a 3-pedal setup), and the lightweight B2N (that reduces its weight by a full 2 kg / 4.4 lbs). The organsand electric pianosare also good. However, it was a bit limited in terms of malleability.Master Tuning. The central tuning of the middle A can be modified from 427.5 Hz – 452.5Hz. The default is 440 Hz. The Korg B2 has 12 different sound including 5 Grand Pianos (German, Italian, Classic, Jazz, Ballad), Stage Electric Piano (Wurlitzer-style preset), 60’s Electric Piano (Rhodes-like preset), Digital Electric Piano (DX7-style synthesizer), Harpsichord, Pipe Organ, Electric Organ, Orchestral Strings. The B2 provides a total of 12 sounds that cover a diverse range of genres, starting with five pristine piano sounds from its new piano engine, and also providing richly distinctive electric piano, organ, harpsichord, and strings. In addition to capturing the enormous tonal range of a grand piano, the meticulously-sampled sounds created for the B2 Digital Piano also reproduce the sympathetic string vibrations and damper resonances that give the piano its character. The newly minted Korg B2N is all new, designed with the goal of creating a lightweight portable digital piano. The problem is that it still requires an AC adapter and power supply. Support for batteries would have been welcome and is a missed opportunity.

We should also discuss the B2N, which uses a redesigned variation of the B2’s action with some weights removed. This arrangement reduces the overall mass of the digital piano, but at the cost of a natural feeling keybed. Also, the Korg B2 has a maximum of 120 voicesof polyphony, in line with the other competitors in this price range. First of all, many of today’s digital pianos use stereo samples, which sometimes require two or even more notes for each key played. For reasons we’ll cover in the Accessories section, you can’t use other pedals that support half-damper functionality (such as Korg’s excellent DS-1H). Most digital pianos aimed at beginners are limited when it comes to effects, and the B2 doesn’t break the mold. These keys include escapement, triple-sensors, and also synthetic ivory key surfaces, making them feel excellent and a joy to play.

Speakers: The Korg B2 piano features two 9W speakers and they sound great. Since it has front-firing speakers, the sounds from this piano are less affected by the shape of the room, which is a great advantage with this piano. FP-30 has more onboard voices, more polyphony, but sound engine and keyboard action is the same as in FP-10, so I don’t think you should overpay for it if you are on budget. The other pieces of software included are the Korg Module LE and the Korg Gadget LE. I haven’t yet tried these out, so you’ll have to see for yourself! Connectivity You can use a USB cableto connect this instrument's USB port to your smartphone, tablet, or computer, and use the B2 as a MIDI keyboard to play an external sound module. Your performance on the B2 can be recorded as music data on your smartphone, and sound from your smartphone can be heard through the speakers of the B2. Convenience and Functionality The Yamaha P-45 is part of Yamaha’s P-series (the P stands for Portable) and is Yamaha’s most affordable piano featuring weighted hammer action.

The Korg B2 weighs around 11.4 kg / 25.13 lbs. and the dimension is around 51.6″ x 13.2″ x 4.6″ (131.2 x 33.6 x 11.7 cm) Support services such as technical support or upgrade support for this product are provided according to the support service policies of Korg’s distributors applicable in each country. Thanks a lot for your update! I’m sure it will help others. I will update the post with that information. Here is why I say it is good for beginners and intermediate players because this piano has a mode called Partner Mode, which splits the keyboard into two halves, and each having the same key range. notes is definitely on the lower end of the spectrum but still adequate for most pianists (even full-range glissando chords are fine). The organs and electric pianos are good, if a bit limited in terms of malleability. I’d prefer to be able to change the original amounts of vibrato and rotary speaker modulation, but that’s asking a bit much since this is an entry-level instrument.
