About this deal

Announcing Kobo Aura One: A breakthrough waterproof ereader designed with the help of real book lovers’, Kobo, Rakuten, August 2016. It's not personal against you -- it just makes it easier for davidfor (I think he's the one who sends them) to get the right images to the right people for the right devices. I can see where it would be hard to keep tract when the requests are coming from every direction. The Aura HD was a limited-edition device, released on 25 April 2013, with a 6.8-inch E Ink display, with a high resolution of 1440 × 1080 with 265 ppi. [47] It is 8.47oz and has a microSD expansion slot. Other improvements compared to the Kobo Touch included a built-in "ComfortLight" LED light, a faster processor (1GHz), twice the onboard storage (4 GB), and twice the battery life (estimated at two months). Just when you thought Barnes & Noble had given up on the e-book reader market, the company has announced a refreshed Nook GlowLight.

One of the best things with Kobo's software is that it offers more layout and font settings than most other ebook readers. You can fine-tune font boldness and sharpness exactly how you want it, along with margins and line-spacing, and you can even load in additional fonts of your choice to go along with the 10 already available. The only downside is that not all the layout setting always work for every ebook, especially sideloaded ebooks. Sometimes it's hit or miss when adjusting margins and line spacing. The Kobo eReader is an e-reader produced by Toronto-based Kobo Inc (a subsidiary of Rakuten). The company's name is an anagram of "book". The original version was released in May 2010 and was marketed as a minimalist alternative to the more expensive e-book readers available at the time. Like most e-readers, the Kobo uses an electronic ink screen. [1] The Arc tablet series, released between 2011 and 2013, was based on LCD technology instead. [2] E Ink devices [ edit ] Chronological overview [ edit ] Legend: As I said in the intro, the light is pretty impressive and can be adjusted with an onscreen slider. At its brightest setting, it's very bright in a dark room, so you'll want to turn it down to midlevel or maybe even lower. While there's a touch of cloudiness at the bottom of the screen where the LEDs are, it's no worse than what you'll see with the Paperwhite and the uniformity is quite good -- the light splays out pretty smoothly across the screen. The color seems a touch different than Paperwhite (it's less white), but I found the hue fine for reading. While reading, I never experienced any discomfort or inability to view the Glo HD's screen. I took it outside in the sun, and I never had to squint or deal with any glare. It worked just as well on the bus, on the subway, and indoors. It's a good-looking, veryreadabledisplay. The Kobo Glo is a lightweight, Wi-Fi-enabled e-reader that has an impressive front-lit, high-res e-ink display with a touch-screen interface. It also features an expansion slot for additional memory, supports EPUB files, and is compatible with any e-book store that uses the Adobe DRM format. It’s not much talked about, but ereaders from Kindle and Kobo allow users to highlight passages of text and type notes by pressing, holding and dragging a finger across text. On a Kindle those notes are fully searchable within an online notebook and accessible via the Kindle app on a smartphone. While trying to turn my Kobo Glo HD into some sort of all-purpose e-ink PDA, I have come across a great deal of useful resources. This is intended for personal use, but could be useful to more people. I will update this post when finding more interesting things. While holding the Home button, slide the power button to the right several times to turn on your eReader. Please don't ignore the fact that I literally joined MobileRead yesterday, and this is my 3rd thread, so don't expect much. Ridden, Paul (25 May 2011). "Kobo launches new e-Reader Touch edition". Gizmag . Retrieved 26 May 2011. You need to do a factory reset if your Kobo’s database gets corrupted, for instance, which can happen if you unplug your Kobo from your computer while files are transferring.

Barnes & Noble has just taken the wraps off a budget version of the Nook GlowLight 4, the e-book reader that it launched last December. Like the Kobo Touch, the Glo is all touch-based. There are only a few buttons: the power slider up top and a button for turning the light on and off. Unlike the Kindle Paperwhite or the Nook with GlowLight, there’s no on-screen way to turn on the light. However, when the light is on, you can adjust the brightness on screen. There are no shadowy dark patches here, but there’s a line of brighter white up top, and at top brightness the colour appears to turn blueish towards the bottom. It’s a little brighter than the Paperwhite’s, though, and they perform roughly as well as each other. It’s a superb step up from the non-lit Kobo model. If your Kobo ereader ever starts experiencing problems or stops working properly, there a few different reset and restart options that can usually fix common issues and sudden performance problems. It isn’t the most attractive or most elegant e-reader in the world, but it’s comfortable to hold in one hand and you can operate it without needing a manual. Win, win. Reading Experience and ComfortLight

Albertini, Javier Penalva y (8 December 2016). "Kobo Aura One, análisis: hay vida (incluso mejor) después del rey Kindle". Xataka. The only two ports are a microSD reader on the left edge that takes cards up to 32GB and a Micro USB port on the bottom for charging and connectimg to a computer. When it comes to the different models, Kobo provides the larger range in most markets as compared to Kindle. That sounds all good and fine unless you don’t have a paperclip (I’ve been there). Then it becomes a chore to find something small enough to fit in the reset hole…Does anyone know where I can send my KOBO for repair it is frozen with the message powered down it has no reset button. Turn on your computer and connect the included USB power cord to your computer first, and then your eReader. When it comes to PDF files and comics, the Kobo ereaders are rather basic and don't offer very much in terms of features. There's a zoom dial for zooming in and out, no presets, reflow, pinch-zooming, or advance features whatsoever. Not even any of the typical on-screen features work. No notes, no highlights, no dictionary. Nothing. The distinguishing feature of this device is the frontlighting technology, allowing a user to read in the dark ("Glo" referring to "Glow" as in "Glow in the dark"). By lighting from the front, the light is less intrusive than an LCD. This light is called the ComfortLight. [3] This light is controlled with a button (to turn it on) and the software (to adjust brightness). According to Kobo, having a uniform distribution of the light across the screen was accomplished with a nano-printed fibre-optic film. [4]

Lots of wasted space when reading, needs option for fullscreen mode and removal of spaces between paragraphs.Store, Rakuten Kobo eReader. "Kobo Aura ONE". Rakuten Kobo eReader Store . Retrieved 12 December 2018. Next to the Paperwhite, the Glo’s light is definitely brighter, but it’s not as well distributed and there’s a clear strip of light at the top where the LEDs are. With the light turned on the Glo’s screen is easy to read, but the text looks a little more washed out. Reid, Calvin (20 April 2012). "With More Funding, Kobo Steps Up". Publishers Weekly . Retrieved 4 June 2012. This isn’t a problem unique to this Kobo or Kobos in general, but when I start to miss the Kindle is when I look for a new book to read. Kobo offers a very solid but ultimately not-very-dynamic bookstore.
