Can someone give me advise on the best way forward. Do I simply disconnect these two wires from terminasl 1 & 2 within my boiler and then connect the wireless receiver as per the Tado instructions? I assume I would then need to disconnect wires from the thermostat itself? Happy to provide pictures of how the thermostat is connected if required. There are several Wiser starter kits. For a straight swap of an existing wired thermostat on a combi boiler (ie one without a separate hot water cylinder) you should have the 'wired version' of the Wiser. With the wired version then the wires from terminals 1 & 3 of the Honeywell T6360B simply go to COM and NO at the Wiser instead. And the existing boiler time control is set to be permanently 'on' 24/7 allowing the Wiser to take full control. Currently, the earth wire (yellow/green) goes to the earth connection, neutral (blue) goes to connection 3 and the live (brown) wire goes to connection 1. Although not good practice, you could use the earth wire as the switched live but you should put red sleeving or insulating tape round both ends to show it is not an earth wire. Don't forget to change both ends of the wires! The equivalent function would be realised by doing what you suggest, however I strongly suggest you change it so that the white wire replaces the green/yellow wire (at both ends), and the green/yellow is used solely for the protective earth.

I've just replaced my old Honeywell T6360 room stat as the old one stopped working. I'm not very experienced in matters of electricity so to make things easy for myself, I simply bought a brand new one (i.e. the same model) so i could just copy over the wiring. All went fine. Just one query - the new Honeywell T6360 has a small LED on it with is illuminated when the unit "calls for heat". I was just wondering if there is an easy way of using my existing wiring to connect up the LED, or if additional wiring is needed? You can use a wireless thermostat with a combi and they frequently are. For example in a new installation, or with one that already has an existing wireless thermostat. The wired receiver can be connected at any convenient point, usually next to the boiler, and then the thermostat can be positioned in the best location without the need to run a new cable out to it. I bought the starter kit thinking the thermstat could be wired in to replace my Honeywell.... The fact it's wireless thermostat wasn't a big enough clue for me.Am I right in thinking that the wireless receiver/extension that I can wire into the boiler would only be of use if I have a wireless thermostat or for hot water? As I have a combi boiler and will fit a wired Tado thermostat, I presume I won’t need the wireless receiver, simply the internet bridge which I have connected in my router?

The thermostat does not need an earth as it is double insulated; the earth terminal is provided as a "parking terminal", i.e in case an earth link is needed. It's a straight swap, the diagrams you posted show that the terminals of the old and new thermostats have exactly the same function number for number [1 is live, 2 is neutral, 3 is switched live] I think I am going to return the wireless tado thermostat to replace it for a wired version to replace my wired Honeywell thermostat. The only way to confirm for sure, would be by knowing what is connected to the other end of each of the wires. Unfortunately the colours of wires are meaningless as they would have been chosen by the original installer and as earlier posts show some don't always make a sensible choice. It's what is connected to each end of a wire that determines its function, not the colour of its insulation.

I've bought a new digital thermostart which just needs live and switched live. Assume this would YELLOW (live) and RED (switched live)? I would like to lower the temperature that the thermostat is set to turn on the heating, but having removed the front cover, it isn't obvious how to do this. Am I right in thinking I could just use the neutral wire and connect this to connection 2 as well as 3? If the thermostat is not wired correctly the room temperature will fluctuate noticeably as the difference between turn-on and turn-off temperatures will be about 5-6 degrees.I am confused to where the existing cables (yellow, red, blue) should be attached to into the Honeywell. Whilst the Sunvic circuit diagram shows the Connector Numbers 1, 3 and 4 being used, the Honeywell circuit diagram show the Connector Numbers 1, 2 and 3 to be used.

I have looked at how to connect the wireless receiver to the boiler and my first issue is that the instructions advise that there should be a bridge between terminals 1 & 2 - There are actually two sperate wires in these terminals which I understand to be from my thermostat supply in terminal 1 and switch in terminal 2. This would leave me with an internet bridge plugged into my router, a wired thermostat and 8 Smart radiator thermostats. Would this be sufficient to heat rooms independently? This shows only three wires rather than the four I have. It seems obvious that Brown (Live) should go to terminal 1 and Blue (Neutral) to terminal 2. But I'm unclear on the other two wires, especially as the green/yellow one - which I'd normally expect to be Earth - appears not to be used as Earth here. Even when the room temp is well below 20, the heating still doesn't come on, so I think it will be a replacement!
