About this deal

Enemies to lovers, college sports romance, brother’s best friend, forced proximity… these are a few of my favorite troupes! Put them all together and you get an epic romance book from Kandi Steiner! He was so vulnerable when he was explaining the pressure from his parents, the accident, and his learning disability to Riley. It was really sweet that he trusted her to share that part of himself, BUT she had to go and ruin it.

Sadly, this wasn't a success. I just couldn't connect to the characters or care about the story. Very slow burn with not much enemies to lovers vibe more animosity and blaming from the heroine side. A friends to enemies to lovers? A cheeky bit of forced proximity? Some delicious steam? A little dose of “I think I kind of love when you hate me” and “I don’t want casual. I want more.”? Tropes/content: Sports romance (football), roommates, forced proximity, brother's best friend/best friend's sister, college, friends to dislike to loversAnd of course, in true Kandi fashion, we got some deliciously hot steam. Their emotional relationship—the breaking down of pain and trauma, the struggles, the frustrations—all builds into intense sexual tension and chemistry which then explodes in the best way possible. Kandi is the kind of author that can take all of that and turn it into something beautiful. AND HOT. Seriously, brace for the heat. they got together so suddenly: the swiftness ruined everything for me. i wanted her hatred for him to last longer and slowly disappear throughout the book, — but in a split second, she went from despising him (understandably so) to wanting him. i just think that after everything, she shouldn’t have given in to him so soon. Kandi Steiner always delivers the perfect combination of heart-aching angst and heartfelt swoon. Fair Catch is delightfully novel, a uniquely inspired love story that enchants in its romantic sincerity and captures your heart from start to finish. Prepare to fall madly in love with this couple and with Kandi's heart-grabbing, emotive prose! I simply adored this story! One more promise,” he said, wiggling the digit. “That you will do whatever makes you happy from this moment on. Regardless of what you think you should do, or what you think other people think you should do.” He paused. “You’ve given a lot to the people you love. Let us return the favor.” What do you get when you mix college football and Kandi Steiner? You get absolute perfection, that's what." -- Bestselling Author Staci Hart

Riley was frustrating at times. She was so mean to Zeke, but I understood where she was coming from. As a big sister, I'm very protective of my brother, so I get why she was upset. Thank God for her brother, Gavin, who helped her process through her feelings. I don’t have very much to say about this book. It wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t that great either. It was a little boring in my opinion, and I didn’t really feel the characters connection. I didn’t really like Riley the fmc, bc I felt like she was a little unfair, and Zeke was a little pathetic in the end in my opinion. But I did however really like Gavin who’s Riley’s brother. As if things aren’t already tough enough as the only girl on a college football team, Coach had to go and assign Zeke Collins as my roommate. I LOVED ZEKE AND RILEY 😭 they had me swooning so hard. the plot didn’t interest me all that much, mainly because i feel like not a lot happened? but the way i still had a marvelous time. I didn't always love Riley. I thought occasionally she could be... kind of a bitch for no reason. I often felt sorry for Zeke for the way she treated him. I also think the conflict at the end of the book actually wasn't that big of a deal and didn't warrant her reaction at all, so I found it difficult not to find her a little bit ridiculous. He thinks because we grew up together that it’s his role to protect me, but all he does is get in my way, make me look weak, and piss me off more. Riley was the selfish one, the hurtful one. The way she used his insecurities and his past against him in such a venomous way was super treacherous and nasty.

I don’t expect you to ever forgive me. And I don’t expect to ever have the chance to hold your heart in my hands again. But I need you to know this,” I said, stepping toward her. “You hold mine. You own mine. For now, forever, regardless of what happens next. And even if you hate me for the rest of your life, I need you to know that I love you.” Eventually, their friendship does grow and soon grows into more. The love hate relationship mixed with brothers best friend is *chefs kiss* Zeke is so sweet and possessive and I love that Kandi put a female on the football team. Riley is 𝙗𝙖𝙙𝙖𝙨𝙨. Oof, Kandi Steiner didn’t give me enough of a warning about how this book would make me feel. I always go into Kandi’s stories prepared to cry and/or soul’s been wrung dry. And with Fair Catch I definitely went through all of the feelings. While not as angsty as I expected it to be, I didn’t care. Because Riley and Zeke delivered a story that was part redemption, part falling in love for the first time and all of it tied together with what is becoming one of my favourite tropes—frenemies to lovers. Zele was a strong lovable alphahole that loved fiercely and Riley has just enough sass to keep him on his toes He thinks because we grew up together that it’s his role to protect me, but all he does is get in my way, make me look weak, and piss me off more.⁣⁣This is where the difference is made — input versus output-based success. Sometimes, you do everything right and the result isn’t what you want. But, if you keep doing all the right things instead of letting one bad result make you question everything, that’s where the consistency comes in. And,” he added with a wink. “It doesn’t leave room for you to beat yourself up the way I know you love to do.” Overall I found Fair Catch to be a true win of a romance, it feeds the soul with such deep layered beauty and the challenge in overcoming fears to live your dream and embrace your passions. Its a romance every reader will be able to connect with and will make you swoon! A bowl game-winner of a read!
