About this deal

I love Biltong, and previously bought it from lots of other companies. I chose Ember partly based on the recommendation of my friend, and also to support a British business, especially during the Pandemic. Disgusting food full of mould! Don't buy this product, thank god we spotted this before biting it, I hope we don't get food poisoning from this garbage. The next step involves mixing spices and then layer unto the bottom of a container large enough to lay the strips flat. Leave into the container to cure for about 6 hours. All the spices will then be absorbed into the meat. What is a little less simple is finding the right farms to source our beef from. To keep our standards as high as possible we source our Wilder biltong from only a handful of farmers who are dedicated to farming regeneratively, rebuilding soil health and restoring wildlife.

Remove the spiced meat strips and rinse them into the initial mixture of vinegar. This is to remove all the spices outside the meat. In the first step, you're required to cut the beef into flat strips about 1-inch-deep by 2 inches wide. You can change the details in your account by logging in through this link. What is a subscription? Tong - the word for tongue (eg. ‘This beef biltong’s so spicy my tong is on fire’) What meats are we talking?

On each length of the meat, you should add a hook. You can use paper clips that are covered in plastics since this is very affordable. Then hang the Hilton in a box or in a space that is well ventilated. You can also add a fan to blow the air gently, however, this fan should not be pointed to your meat directly because this can harden the case.

Homemade biltong can take about 15 minutes to prepare and to achieve the best results, in the end, you will need a cut of good beef that is suitable for making biltong. After you've bought the perfect beef for making biltong, you can follow the steps below to prepare your biltong: From our webstore we deliver to the UK including the Channel islands, France, Germany, Italy and Hungary. Brown Sugar: This caramel and molasses flavour adds complexity to the Biltong without masking it. It helps by balancing the saltiness well. The product had changed in size altho not weight, & not too sure at this stage whether this is better. Never the less, the 3 different products selected were very good.

Salt: Sea salt is a fantastic flavour enhancer, and it helps preserve the meat too. On top of that, it destroys bacteria outside the meat and allows the drying process. However, make sure you use the right amount of salt. I recently tried the Steak slices, which I found in Sainsbury's, and these were yummy (I ate the whole bag in 1 go!) :)

Mix all of the spices together and sprinkle over the beef. Sprinkle the vinegar and vigorously rub it all while keeping the hands on the beef. The biltong should then be cured for 24 hours. This should be done in the refrigerator, turning and rubbing the meat every now and then. Vinegar: Brown vinegar has been used to make Biltong traditionally; this is because of the strong flavour it has. Some people use apple cider vinegar, and it's okay too. However, if you want to achieve the best flavour, brown sugar is best; apple cider vinegar comes second. Compared to smoky beef jerky, biltong has a much meatier, deeper flavour - closer to game than most beef you will have tasted. Jerky can be teeth-shatteringly tough, whereas biltong should be tender and chewy. Oh, and biltong is much healthier thanks to the curing process (and low fat, low sugar content) to the way that it is made. What is biltong? The delicious benefits We guarantee that our biltong will arrive to you with a shelf life of at least 45 days but our products will normally have a longer shelf life of 3-6 months. How long does your biltong last once opened? So we did some digging - a lot of digging actually - and once we had all the information it was clear that organic was the way to go. But we didn’t stop there. We wanted the organic farms we sourced from to be the best of the best so we teamed up with our friends at Farm Wilder who work with farmers dedicated to restoring soil health and farming regeneratively. Every single one of our products is sourced from British & Irish meat but we don't think that is enough. We want you to eat the best tasting biltong out there which means only using high welfare, 100% organic and grass-fed British beef. The meat pieces should also not be touching, below the meat, a newspaper can be placed to catch the liquid. Look, we love biltong as much as the next person. It’s delicious, filling and don’t even get us started on those unbelievable protein values. But on our quest to make the best tasting biltong we discovered something revolutionary: you cannot make the best tasting biltong without using the highest welfare, best quality meat. Fact. We guarantee that our biltong will arrive to you with a shelf life of at least 45 days but our products will normally have a longer shelf life of 3-6 months.
