About this deal

Aside from that though, all the characters in this (with the exception of my Jonah, of course), are one-dimensional. They start off miserable and they end miserable. I didn’t care for the small redemptions some of them had—Leah realizing not everything is about her and finally being the older sister she had to be, Terry saying he’s not a fraud (he is), Charlie…is Charlie, Tate…is Tate, Kellan is…dead. terry marchetti 🍺 - one of the 2 redemption arcs. at first, i hated this man because he so callously ditched his son, but then i felt sorry for him as the money from his successful novel ran dry and he became a homeless alcoholic, who had to beg to stay in his oldest son's house. the more i read, the more i learned about terry, and by the end? only a person like charlie can make this awful man into someone worth forgiving. did this coward steal his son's book and publish it as his own? yes. but he helped give darling venom the finish it deserves and made kellan proud. Overall, Darling Venom was not a bad book, but it didn't touch me emotionally. Not with his romance, at least.

Why would Charlotte's boss insist that she visit a gynecologist? 🌚 Reproductive health is important and all, but even if she never made it to an ob-gyn before, it was kinda... her personal issue? And let's not forget the way I screamed when it was revealed that literally THE BEST BOOK EVER WRITTEN was plagiarised from lil old Kellan. How old was he when he wrote it? Five? A fetus? 🤣🤣 There was something perpetually tragic about us. Even in moments of peace. We were two empty planets, bound by grief and a gravitational pull neither of us could deny. Destined to collide and end in a fiery death.❞ Then you have the time Charlie walks into the clinic and basically demands that Tate gives her an appointment for her boss. She’s mad he isn’t available because it’s Valentine’s Day (aka the day Kellan died) so she’s mad because she thinks he’s playing around on a day like that. After walking in on him doing the deed and taking care of it, she expects him to give her an appointment.

I wouldn’t call this a romance. There is no development and substance not only between Charlie and Kellan but also between Charlie and Tate. Besides feeling zero sympathy and chemistry for Kellan and Charlie, Tate and Charlie had nothing to share besides shared grief and guilt about Kellan. There’s like, two sex scenes, too many embarrassing moments that I covered with laughter, and love being used as a cure for Charlie. Charlie never really mentioned what it is she’s struggling with, all we know is she wants to kill herself because her parents died in a fire and her sister hates her. She has a miserable and poor life so of course suicide is her answer to ending it all. yes, i know i sound like a broken record but i did love each and every character in this book. tate was suffering. a young man himself when his good for nothing dead beat, alcoholic father dumped his teenage son on a fresh out of med school tate, so he could run off with his too-young gold-digging girlfriend. struggling with balancing his job and a rebellious brother who he struggled to connect with, kellan's death affected him so much, that tate never forgave himself. Speaking of the length, yeah, it’s a lot! Reading my ebook took a couple of days and the audio is also quite the marathon. This isn’t an easy workday listen anyways, but keep the runtime in mind. The slow burn romance lends itself perfectly to an office listen, but the heavy themes might require more of your focus and the length means it’ll run over 2-3 days. The good news is that it’s already Whisper-synced, so you can borrow the ebook from Kindle Unlimited and upgrade to the audio inexpensively, giving you the ability to switch between audio and ebook with ease. This is supposed to be a steamy romance but it really isn’t. The steamy scenes were extremely bland since our dearest two leads didn’t have any chemistry at all. While reading the second half of the book, I kept thinking that this girl must have taken a few classes from the internet guru on how to bring raging alcoholics and their decadent sons out of depression.tate is the best vagina dr around, so much so he makes women cum just from a vaginal exam/pa You can't tell me everyone in the publishing world is thirsting after a book that references Miley Cyrus🤣🤣🤣. I can already imagine all the middle schoolers dissecting the comparison between emotional turmoils and our twerk queen✋😩 Four years later and Nash Prescott is no longer the help’s angry son. While Emery is no longer the town’s prized princess. At the age of twenty-two, she is broke and in need of a job. And at the age of thirty-two, he is a billionaire and yearning for revenge.

jonah 🛠️ - did this book really give me not 1, not 2, but 3 perfect heroes??? PARKER YOU ANGEL I BOW DOWN TO THEE. jonah was a MAN. firstly he's a mechanic so i can just imagine his sexy greased-up face, and those hands that i KNOW are godly, secondly, he's a single dad. a girl dad. a dilf to the highest of degrees. need i say more? i will though because he was smitten with leah, a girl he knows is difficult and traumatized, but saw through her facade and loved her for the way she looked after his daughter, & gave a home to her younger sister. i'll just leave these quotes here to describe how much we need to protect this man. I happen to think that the strongest foundation for a relationship ever is shared grief. *insert 'this is fine meme'* 🌚 Yea those parts were a tiny bit ridiculous but I don't give a shit. Kellan was so precious I believe he could do anything. So why not 5 stars? Although i liked it very much and i would probably remember it for a long time i think it was unnecessary too long. The middle part dragged so much with things repeating and the push and pull between Tate and Charlie felt exhausting at one point. I just wanted Tate to get his head out of his ass bc he started to annoy the hell out of me with his wishy washy behaviour. However, I expected the romance to match the mood, and that's where my expectations were met with disappointment, which is why I ended up not loving this as much as I thought I would at first. It’s true clownery that I was able to convince myself I would be able to write a review for this masterpiece. It’s hard to write a review for something that emotionally destroys you whilst making you fall in love with every character and every redemption arc.

By the end we got three love stories. Kellen and Charlotte (first love), Tate and Charlotte (soulmates drawn together by fate) and then Leah and Jonah (the patient love that takes determination and persistence). I loved reading every single one of their love stories no matter how shortlived or long lasting they ended up being. Did I mention that same brother also dedicated a whole ass book to Charlie before he JUMPED FROM THE ROOF THEY ARE SHARING SALIVA ON I AM- ngl i was mildly entertained but then the author just pulled a drama queen's card.. sorry im outta here, i refuse to shed tears over something that dumb🥳 I guess that part of this indifference is partly tied to the fact that I ended up not liking the main characters that much, after all, and even if I did, I'd still feel like something was missing. For years, I’ve dreamt of what college life could bring and while some things changed, there was always one constant. this is an age gap (12 years) she’s 22 and he’s 34 - but he would constantly refer to her as a “kid” and he would go on and on ab why he shouldn’t and couldn’t be with her bc she’s way too young and y’know his dead brothers best friend - yet his inner thoughts was him going on about how horny he would get whenever he was around her, make it make sense pls his life was never meant to be lived but remembered and celebrated instead. his talent transcends time and i wish that "darling venom" the story that kellen actually wrote and left for charlotte to finish as his dying wish was a real book because i would do ANYTHING to read more of his words. hated by her sister leah for a tragic event which caused a fire in their family home leading to the death of their parents, leaving leah with burns all over her face & body from saving charlotte, the guilt over being the cause of the accident has built up so much that she no longer wants to live. on her 14th birthday (valentines day) she decides to end it all but instead, she meets stops a boy from jumping off the same rooftop that she chose for her suicide. Here we have the stereotypical emo suicidal boi, the sarcastic and colder older brother who ends up becoming a rich doctor, and the desperate child with sissy issues. Emo and desperate child meet. They form a pact to meet once a year in the roof. Shit happens. Emo boi dies. Desperate child cries. Fast forward a couple years. Desperate child walks into older brother having sex with a woman. She stays while he stares right at her. She mentions she knew suicidal boi. Older brother is suddenly interested. The two aren’t friends but they’re also not enemies. They both carry guilty. So, they form a pact and decide to finish some manuscript emo suicidal boi decided to leave. They catch feelings or whatever. A manuscript is completed. The end.
