About this deal

Grow a grass Kitty Pot Planter in your window. Kitty’s don’t usually eat grass, but they certainly do love it! For cat lovers! Cats eat this sparingly for essential vitamins, said to remove fur balls especially if they are house bound.

The only other way I've kept cats out of soil is to insert plastic forks into the soil with the tines up, but I'd say that's a lot less helpful than wire or netting! Plus some cats will just pull the forks out of the soil and dig anyway haha As well as being a tasty treat for your cat, cat grass has a number of health benefits. It is full of nutrients and vitamins including vitamins A and D. The laxative effect - Because cat grass is rich in soluble fibre, this aids cat's digestion and keeps their bowels in tip-top condition. Due to their daily grooming practices, your cat most likely swallows a lot of hair. If not correctly expelled, the cat fur can create a build-up of hair and digestive fluids within their stomach. But guess what? The seeds still sprouted, and they grew super healthy! And after researching even more, I found out that I hadn’t actually made “mistakes” at all. I just did it a little differently than some tutorials online. And guess what? It’s OK!When your grass is 4-6 inches, feel free to let them have a go at it! It normally takes about a week to get to this size. Please note that the habit of these plants is that they 'dead' grass' around the base of the plant, this is quite normal. Not all cats like cat grass, but if your cat doesn't take to it right away, don't lose hope, my cat Rudie only tends to like his grass once it is starting to wilt (he's a funny old fish). Make sure you have a layer of seeds that nearly covers the soil and don't cover them with too much soil, that's really all I do! You can’t really go wrong with any of these grasses – but wheatgrass and oat grass are the most popular choices.

If your cats allow, harvest some sprigs of their cat grass for smoothies or juicing, cut at the base just above the root. Blend with water in a blender and strain the juice or use the grass directly in your juicer. Next to catnip, cat grass is a staple in our house and I grow it for the catio in the Summer and indoors during winter. It’s gratifying to know that something as simple as cat grass can contribute to your cat’s environment enrichment needs to keep him happy and engaged. After all, your indoor cat has a full schedule too: Cat grasses, on the other hand, do not affect the brain, but many cats are attracted to them. There is no definite answer as to why that is, but some researchers believe cats do it to purposely help themselves throw up if they need to. It also can have a laxative effect and help them digest hairballs. In addition, they could also be eating it to get extra nutrition. You may cover the seeds with a thin layer of extra soil, about 1/4″ but I find this is not necessary. In fact, I have done both to experiment to see which would grow faster, covered or uncovered, and this does not make a difference. After your seeds are placed, place a very thin layer of dirt over the top of them, around 1/4 inch. You don’t want to cover them in TOO much soil, so you may still see some seeds popping up in the dirt after you do this step and that’s fine. Do you grow cat grass for your kitties? Is your grass greener on the inside? Chirp us a line below, we’d love to hear your stories! Plus, it's super cheap and easy to grow! It'll take about a week to get it to a good height, but after that, it's a grass eating free-for-all. This grass planter is a product of a company specializing in making high-quality clay pots for more than 30 years. These grass planters will look great outdoors and indoors as well – so whether you want to plant grass for your pets or just have a unique addition to your house plants, this grass planter will get the job done.

For growing three 7.5″ diameter pots, put about half a cup of seeds in a bowl and cover with water for about 4 to 6 hours. The pre-soaking helps speed up germination. Some say this is not necessary but I have always soaked my seeds. Rinse them thoroughly after soaking, they’re now ready to be sewn in pots. It’s been said that there are all sorts of different pluses to having an indoor pet rather than an outdoor one. For organic cat grass growing kit, organic homemade greens in a pet’s diet, that’s especially true. Better out than in - Cats may eat grass instinctively when they want to induce vomiting, this could be when they have eaten something that disagrees with them, and want it out of their system, pronto.

Tummy trouble - Some theories suggest that cat grass helps your cat to regurgitate hairballs, getting rid of the fur from grooming that clogs their digestive tract. The design of the Catit Senses 2.0 Grass Planter also makes it easy to keep clean. Simply take it apart and clean each part by hand with a neutral cleaner, rinsing carefully before allowing to dry. With mesh cover: grass grows through a sieve-like mesh cover, to prevent your cat from digging in the pot Grass may act as a source of fibre and helps induce vomiting to remove fur balls which form over time and makes your cat uncomfortable.
