Canon EOS 750D / T6i Review – Our Verdict This system uses sensor-based phase detection points to enhance focus speed and accuracy in Live View and is said to be close to the speed of Dual Pixel AF as well as being up to four times faster than the EOS 100D. Having said that, the older 750D does still hold a few key advantages over the 200D including more focus points and better flash coverage. Canon improved the AF system for the 750D when compared with its predecessor, the 700D. It has a 19-point on-sensor, with all-cross-type points, as well as the on-sensor phase detection pixels that are used when you’re in Live View mode. Weather sealing is a feature most manufacturers reserve for their enthusiast-level DSLRs, so you’ll need to step up to a 70D or 7D Mark II to get this protection. Of course if you want maximum low light image quality, a long exposure from a tripod is the only way to go. Nevertheless, the quality difference between our 1-second ISO 400 long exposure and the Handheld Night Scene image is impressively small.

Less vital but still desirable are the Wi-Fi connectivity features introduced with the 750D. Though the system can be a bit fiddly to set up, especially if you’re connecting to a non NFC-enabled smart device, it works well once connected. There’s an anti-aliasing filter, so while detail is well-rendered, if you pixel-peep at 100%, you might find fractionally more in cameras such as the Nikon D5600. Dynamic range is also less impressive than some of its rivals, but looking at images in isolation, you should still be pretty pleased with them.Even at the time of its launch, the 700D didn’t have amazingly impressive video credentials. Although it shoots at Full HD, that is restricted to 30fps, and of course, there’s no sign of the now relatively ubiquitous 4K. Still, if your main interest is in photography, rather than videography, you may not be altogether bothered. The 750D arrives two years later than the 700D, and while there’s little to separate them from the outside, there are some significant changes inside. The autofocus sensor has been upgraded, up from 9 to 19 points, all of which are cross-type for increased sensitivity. It appears to be the same autofocus sensor used in the Canon EOS 70D and the Canon 7D before that. It’s still short of the 39 points offered by the Nikon D5500, though, and its diamond-shaped array of points covers a smaller area in the centre of the frame. Something else that splits the camera from its more basic stablemates is the 7560 pixel RGB+IR metering sensor. This is the same unit as in the more expensive EOS 77D and EOS 80D models, and this works to ensure that images are accurately exposed, using information from the camera's focusing system and camera-to-subject distance to get it bang on.
