About this deal

Stand on the A4 paper with your heel pressed firmly against the wall and your foot pointed forward with the edge of your big toe aligned with the edge of the paper. La Sportiva's TX4 Mid GTX take the classic approach shoe and add more support with this Mid design. They are still made with a solid sole, leather outer and Gore-Tex lining. They feature everything you want in an approach shoe with extended rubber bumpers around the toes, along the sides and up the heels along with the added support of the mid cut around the ankle. A strong, effective lacing system allows you to get the most comfortable fit and the large pull loop on the heel makes getting them on much easier too. The Gore-Tex lining helps keep out the wet on days when the weather is not on your side. I’d always considered myself a “Boot Man”, but recently I’ve been tempted by a lighter more flexible option for the hills. Having spent the summer legging it round the Welsh mountains like a lemming in what you would call “Full Boots”, I’ve come to the conclusion that on the right terrain and in right weather conditions, less is more….

The "TX" in the TX4's stands for Traverse X; La Sportiva's range ideally suited towards prolonged use in the mountains and technical climbing routes but also with a bit of everyday use thrown in. At Addnature, we integrate firmer, cushier and lighter soles into our hiking boots and waterproof hiking boots to protect your feet during these outdoor adventures. Mountaineering Boots Ventilation plays a crucial part in your hiking experience. You want to walk in a pair of hiking boots or mountaineering boots that allow your feet to breathe but not so open that they pose a risk to injuries. Be sure to choose a water resistant material for your waterproof hiking boots or mountaineering boots with insulation features for when the seasons change. Hiking ShoesBut let’s not dwell on what you don’t have, instead we shall teach you how to ascertain your size using some common household objects.

The soles of the TX4 are made by Vibram, the leading manufacturer of soles for climbers, hikers and walkers. If you can see this amount of space then you are pretty much on the way to making sure that your boots are the correct size. This space between your toes and the end of the footbed ensures that you will not stub your toes on the inside of the boot when you descend. This can be excruciatingly painful. If you can’t see this amount of space then it’s a good bet that the boots will be too small. Leather can wet out and grow heavy and misshapen with extended exposure to rain or snow. You can apply waterproofing products, but keep in mind that they will impact breathability. I wanted a good all-round walking shoe for the mountains, I wanted it to be waterproof with a very grippy sole unit, potentially with a toe box that could handle some precision footwork for scrambling, and something that didn’t look too unfashionable for a cold one at the local after a day on the hills! If you’ve tried on any shoe in the TX lineup, you know the drill: both the sizing and fit of these shoes are unique. For starters, most people find that they run large, so if you’re on the fence, we recommend sizing down a half size from your normal number. I have the TX2, TX3, and TX4, and wear a size 8 in all three instead of my usual 8.5. Second, both the TX3 and TX4 have a wide forefoot designed to increase both comfort and stability, which is uncommon from La Sportiva. As someone who has a particularly wide foot, I really love the fit of these shoes. However, if you have a narrow or low-volume foot, you’ll likely find the TX4 to be far too roomy. In the end, if this is your first pair of shoes from the TX lineup, we recommend trying on before you buy, or at least purchasing from an online marketplace with a lenient return and exchange policy. For waterproof hiking boots, you can also factor in water-resistance, stability and warmth. You do not want to go hiking, only to get frostbites from the cold. La Sportivahave transferred their knowledge from stiffer mountain boots into their approach range, naming it their STBControl System. Essentially, the upper wraps around the midsoleat the middle of the shoe which enhances stability on traverses and rough terrain. This also provides a more supportive and snug fit, in turn increasing the comfort and precision while climbing. Intended for use on hikes, approach walks and via ferrata, it is designed for technical terrain. Thanks to its low suede upper part, it is very comfortable and ultra-light with a weight of only 410 g per shoe. The TX4 is both a reliable hiking shoe and a flexible pair of climbing shoes in terms of its design. The lacing, which is very typical of climbing and La Sportiva models, and the slim fit are assets. They look good because the laces are coloured to contrast with the fabric. The soles are turned inwards, which makes them more ergonomic. These shoe are developed specifically for mens feet. For the women's model see the La Sportiva TX4 women. A Hybrid Design The material you choose on your mountaineering boots or hiking shoes affects how well your foot breathes, water resistance, and the overall weight of your boots. The waterproof hiking boots upper could be either full-grain or split-grain leather, or entirely a synthetic material.

The boot upper is made from suede leather and mesh, and despite some heavy usage over the last 24 months, there’s no sign of wear and tear problems. Now that your boots are done up properly stand up on your tiptoes and walk on the spot on the balls of your feet as if you are walking up a steep hill. If your heels lift more than approximately 5mm from the footbed you may need to pull the laces tighter, or the boots may just be the wrong shape for you.At the toe, there is a climbing zone, which is a smooth area of rubber for maximising traction on narrow footholds; again, this will help scramblers and climbers alike and is rarely found on regular hiking footwear.

La Sportiva set the standards in approach shoe design with their Boulder X model. It was the go-to shoe for climbers looking to upgrade their approach shoe collection, or even to replace their battered 5-year-old Boulder X – we even know of people hoarding pairs of Boulder X in fear that they might one day become discontinued. This test will tell you if the shape of the internal heel cup matches your heel to ensure it holds you securely, especially when ascending steep ground. We are trying to eliminate the dreaded heel blister. The TX4 Mid is one of the most versatile, all-rounded pieces of footwear available; whether you're climbing, scrambling, trekking or simply walking around town, they're exceptionally comfortable, well made and perfect for almost every outdoor pursuit. Leather shoe with Gore-Tex Extended Comfort designed for technical approach routes and via ferrata, part of the Traverse X approach series: ideal for prolonged use by mountain guides and all those who work in the mountains. The La Sportiva TX4 GTX Approach Shoes is a rugged and sturdy, with uppers made of hard-wearing leather and their PU Tech Lite rand giving it enhanced torsion, stability and a “built to last” appearance. You get an aggressive, in your face sole unit provided in this instance by the industry leaders Vibram. The sole unit meets a rubber toe box that looks like it could belong to a climbing shoe and even includes a climbing zone/edge for precision footwork, and a “break” system to assist on steep exists. The comparison to climbing shoes doesn’t stop here though, with a lacing system taken from their Mythos climbing model that offers better volume and tension control throughout the length of the shoe.
