About this deal

Bols Geneverwas on the U.S. marketuntil Prohibitionand was not available again until the summer of 2008. It is bottled at 42 percent ABV (84 proof), and a bottle typically sells for the same price as any premium gin.

Carolus used the antique coal-fired alembic copper pot still, 'Distilleerketel #1' which had also been the inspiration for his premium genever, to make a pot still vodka. However, pot stills produce very heavy-tasting vodkas which was not the character he was searching for, so he blended this with column still vodka. After much experimentation, Carolus perfected the methods and the blend used to make Ketel One Vodka. A vodka with a crispness from the column still and the rounded sophistication from the pot still. Aside from that, there really are no limits, and today's gins feature a wide range of herbs, spices, flowers and fresh fruit to create the complex, sultry spirits we know today. Malfy offers a variety of flavors, but the clear favorite is the Gin Con Limone. The brand uses coastal-grown Amalfi lemons and Sicilian varieties in its lemon-flavored gin, promising a taste of the sunshine in every sip. Today, drinkers can enjoy the diversity of gin.Unlike vodka, each bottle of gin is truly unique. The majority feature some degree of the pine flavor that comes from juniper, which is gin's signature ingredient, yet no two bottles have the same combination of botanicals. Aviation's choice of a rye base gives this gin a creamier mouthfeel than most gins. It is a gin that you can enjoy chilled on its own, which is great news for super dry martini fans.Having great admiration for the Founding Fathers of the American Revolution, Joannes' brother Jacobus became an acquaintance of John Adams, who later became the second president of the United States. This marks the start of a transatlantic connection that went on to help shape the company. Gin is set apart from other spirits in a few different ways. For a start, it’s a spirit that can’t be aged, which is why most gins are clear. Generally speaking, only Genever is barrel-aged. Gin can only be bestowed with that title if it contains juniper as one of its botanicals and has a minimum alcohol content of 37.5% ABV.

There are more than 350 distilleries in the UK alone and plenty more across the world, showing that England’s national spirit is a popular choice no matter which hemisphere you find yourself in.NOLET’S Reserve is the family’s quintessential “sipping gin” that captures the aromas of a variety of spices and botanicals, allowing for an intense and layered long-lasting taste. A personal creation of Carolus Sr.’s, four decades in the making, NOLET’S Reserve is handmade in small batches, personally supervised by him. Only a few hundred bottles are released each year and they are all individually numbered by hand and presented in a distinguished gift box. In his own words, NOLET’S Reserve is “a gin of unprecedented excellence that builds on our family’s rich history.” But if you’re looking for something with a wider array of botanicals, distilleries around the country, as well as some abroad, make their own new school gins. These all include juniper as a base flavor, of course, but often use spices and fruit that define the region in which they are produced. And consider price as well when deciding on a gin, because some of the best are the least expensive. Unlike London Dry Gin, which can be found in plenty of variations across the planet, there’s only one brand that sells Plymouth Gin. It’s aptly called the same name. Plymouth Gin differs from London Dry Gin in that it’s slightly less dry – likely due to the higher concentration of root ingredients. It has a slightly earthier flavor and comes in two core strengths – standard and Navy Strength. It might actually work to its advantage. Because while the brand is known for producing good quality vodka and gin, it’s Spirit Works’ sloe gin that really shines through. Founded in Schiedam, Holland in 1691 by Joannes Nolet, the Nolet Distillery has remained a prominent fixture in the city’s distilling history, surviving throughout the French Revolution and two World Wars. The distillery has been exporting spirits to the United States since the late 19th century. Today, the Nolet Distillery is the oldest distillery in Holland that is still in the hands of the founding family, a testament to the strength of the Nolet family. Their tradition of distilling spirits continues through tenth generation owner Carolus Nolet and his two sons, Carl Nolet, Jr., and Bob Nolet. Together their passion for this craft inspired them to create gins of unparalleled distinction for the 21st century.

Another big difference is the distillation process. Instead of being a simple distillation, like vodka, botanicals are introduced early on during the process to maximize their flavors and aromas. Terminology: The terms to know when talking about gin This is the signature gin used to make a Sapphire martinias well as the Sapphire alpine. The two blue martinis use blue curaçao to get that beautiful color, and they're a delight to drink. The saffron also gives Nolet’s Reserve its slightly tinted amber coloring and warm, deep spice flavor. Unsurprisingly, it’s a gin with plenty of depth, balancing bitter notes like verbena with florals like Turkish rose and lavender.Joannes exported his family's genever for the first time. Sharing their success, the Nolets support local charities and became respected citizens of Schiedam. During this period the town itself underwent much change, becoming the centre of Holland's distilling industry. The Nolets become distinguished members of the Distiller's Guild. Distilled in Cheshire, England, Bombay Sapphire's full list of vapor-infused botanicals include juniper, almond, grains of paradise, lemon peel, licorice, orris root, angelica, coriander, cassia bark, and cubeb berries. It's old meets new with this gin. While the brand is relatively young, having launched in 1987, the beautiful array is based on a recipe from 1761. There is a beautiful gin inside this distinct green bottle with its red wax seal. Tanqueray's crisp, dry style is the benchmark for a London dry gin without any citrus in the botanicals. It is a standard to which all other gins are compared and contrasted and also sells for a reasonable price. Jacobus cautiously expanded the distillery established by his father and ensured a reliable supply of malt by purchasing a share in a local windmill. Up to this time the Nolet Distillery had predominantly made genever, most of which was sold in the Netherlands where it was by far the biggest selling spirit. However, Carolus took over just as a price war was starting with several of the larger producers trying to squeeze out their smaller rivals. Rather than enter this price war Carolus launched a new, premium genever with a much higher price point. Supported by retailers whose margins had also been squeezed in the price war, the new genever, Ketel 1, named after the oldest pot still, Distilleerketel #1, went from strength to strength.
