About this deal

I don't really like Worcester or Hive, Worcester will not allow you to use third party analogue thermostats like Nest and Hive is a simple off/on switch with no link to TRV's. Here’s what you do if you want to set up an automatic programme on your mechanical, or analogue, boiler timer dial. The thermostat also has advanced features such as frost protection, which prevents pipes from freezing during colder weather, and holiday mode, which allows users to set a lower temperature while they are away from home to conserve energy.

Select the “run” option to verify your changes. Alternatively, the option can read “set”, and once you confirm the option, you have successfully set your digital timer. A negative, however, is that boiler timers can’t usually adapt to variations in routines like ensuring that you have the heating on at particular times during the weekends. The schedule you set on your timer is simply set in stone regardless of whether it is a weekday or the weekend and this reason is why a central heating thermostat is a much better option for controlling your boiler. As the Hive you can over ride the on or over ride the off, however I would assume you want it to be temporary? I have two thermostats wired in parallel and one is programmable so if cold I over ride the programmable thermostat knowing at next timed change it will revert to program, I assume you want same? However I would not rip either out once fitted. I have wifi TRV heads but not the best, they should link to Nest but since Worcester does not support opentherm never bothered to fit it. Conversely, if the room thermostat is too close to a draught, the thermostat will think the room is much colder than it is and turn the boiler on.Bear in mind that this procedure, as well as the configuration of the timer pins, may vary depending on the boiler timer model (but not by much). How to Set a Digital Boiler Timer Turn the knob to select ON or OFF, if ON is selected the Programmer will automatically adjust the time in conjunction with daylight savings time

If you are concerned that resetting your boiler is a difficult task, you shouldn’t be worried about that as it is something you can do. With that in mind, we have chosen to highlight several ways you can reset your boiler timer, depending on the type of timer your boiler has. Let’s begin Digital timersEnsure that the boiler is set to auto. If you’ve set the timer function to “On” or “Off”, you’ll have to switch it on and off manually. The Worcester MT10 thermostat is a home heating control device that is designed to provide efficient and precise temperature regulation. It is suitable for use in the United Kingdom. The thermostat is specifically engineered to work with compatible Worcester boilers.

Then, to activate the programme, you’ll have to push a button that may be labelled as “Start” or “Set”— again, please refer to the boiler timer manual for instructions specific to your model. What to Do If Your Boiler Timer Still Isn’t Working The newer Worcester boilers don’t have the screws anymore (or the silly filling loop keys) but most of them out there still do. I can see the advantage of switching the heating off/on with phone, but not up/down of a wall thermostat, as room temperature controlled by TRV all the wall thermostat does is turn off whole of heating on a warm day. Only with an open plan house with a wall thermostat control whole house.

How to Set a Boiler Timer

Whoever you use, make sure they complete a full diagnostic first. It’s not good replacing the boiler timer, and even the thermostat, to find that neither of the installations fix the problem! Boiler Timer Not Working: Parting Words Set on and off times. You can do this by pressing the pins that surround the boiler timer dial; each pin typically represents a period of 15 minutes. Unfortunately, there are times when your broken boiler cannot be fixed, especially if your boiler is an old model. Don’t become frustrated about the cost. Instead, you should consider purchasing a new boiler as a great investment.

Already know that your boiler timer is busted? You can can get a new, reputable one like this model from Honeywell. And if you’re thinking about upgrading your boiler, you can get competitive installation prices with 10-year warranties at Heatable— simply fill in their anonymous questionnaire and get a range of boiler models with fixed prices. Your Boiler Timer Should Work Like This You can do this by locating the switch that controls the power to your boiler. Once you locate it, remove the fuse using an electric screwdriver and switch it with a new one. This process should provide power to your modern boiler. There was a power cut that caused your boiler to reset If there’s a fault with the thermostat, it might not communicate with the boiler, or tell it to come on.

On this model (Greenstar 28i Junior) there were two screws on the top and two screws on the bottom that needed to be loosened or removed with a screwdriver. Removing Worcester boiler casing If you take these considerations into account when installing a thermostat, it’ll work much better. Heating & Hot Water Settings I have been carrying out boiler replacements and repairs for over ten years and replacing an MT10 timer is very basic. Today’s boilers are intelligent heating systems, so advanced that some come with timers you can control via smartphone apps. So consider that the money you spend on a boiler timer can help improve your quality of life. This is a pretty obvious one, but make sure you have not turned down the heating instead of the hot water (or vice versa).
