Section one of PD paper uses ranking questions. You get a scenario, there's four or five options and you rank them best to worse. In section two of the PD paper there's a scenario, there's eight options and you're asked to select the three most appropriate options from the list. The Professional Dilemmas Paper is a Situational Judgement Test (SJT) designed to assess your response to situations involving challenging professional dilemmas. There is no charge for the assessment; however, you may incur travel and accommodation costs, which will not be reimbursed, so it’s advised that you book your assessment as soon as possible to avoid missing out on your closest test centre. Structure of MSRA Pilot questions are also included alongside the test for the purpose of item development; however, you will not be scored on these. Professional Dilemmas Paper To help you prepare for your MSRA date, Shiken provides an Ai-powered personalized MSRA question bank with three simple subscription options. The prices for these subscriptions vary depending on their duration, allowing you to choose the one that best fits your needs and MSRA study schedule.

Requests for remote examinations are assessed and approved on a case-by-case basis. You can find out more remote testing for the MSRA here. MSRA Exam Dates 2024 I signed up to the Pastest question bank 5 months before the January exam- I knew I would have to start preparing early with 2 children under 3. I slowly worked my way through the question bank, doing about 2-3 hours a week and making notes of and rehashing weak areas. We were still living in Malawi and our internet was terrible, so I managed to get hold of a few books of practice questions from Pastest and ISC Medical. There is no negative marking so you should answer every question but each paper is marked slightly differently so let's take a look at each in turn. The MSRA dates for 2024 are scheduled from Thursday, January 4th to Tuesday, January 16th 2024 and for Round 2 from the 2nd to 9th September 2024. Once the application timeframe has ended, you will receive a message asking you to register with Pearson VUE using the credentials associated with your Oriel account.

The MSRA can be a difficult exam for many applicants, as it covers a wide range of medical knowledge and requires strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Additionally, the situational judgment test (SJT) component can be particularly challenging, as it requires applicants to respond to ethical and professional scenarios in a limited amount of time. When searching for seat availability at assessment centres by location, Pearson VUE will return a maximum of 30 assessment centres per location search. Hopefully this has provided you with basic information about the MSRA to help you to begin your preparation for the exam. Both elements of the exam are based on the Foundation Programme curriculum and are designed to assess how you apply your clinical knowledge to support you to make clinical decisions. How Many Questions in the MSRA? MSRA Paper Half of the questions in the PD paper are ranking questions and half are multiple-choice questions. Typically, the answer options are actions that can be taken in response to the circumstances in the scenario. Good, acceptable, and poor actions are included as options, as is the best action. Unrealistic actions are not included. The PD paper is a situational judgement test and as such it's scoring can be quite confusing. So let's spend some time understanding how the PD questions are marked as once you figure that out it really helps you when you come to select your answers.

Now there are a bunch of MSRA question banks out there so here are the best MSRA question banks to help you decide which is best for you, and remember you might want to sign-up to multiple banks to do as many questions as possible. From my own experience with doctors preparing for MSRA there are two main chosen approaches – question-bank based and ‘formal revision’ based – and I am often asked which is best.

Any changes made to your personal details in Oriel will be reflected in Pearson VUE account. Booking an assessment Get there early, or consider staying in a hotel nearby the night before. Walk to the test centre before the exam, partly to clear your head and calm nerves. They may let you book in earlier than your slot too, so it’s worth deciding if you want to do that. The MSRA exam was first introduced in 2013 as part of the selection process for core medical training, and has since been expanded to cover a wide range of specialties. One of PassMedicine's most-liked features is it's textbook which offers explanations and information around clinical topics in detail. Questions were felt to be less similar to those asked at the final MSRA exam than other online question banks, but at such a low cost it's a fairly inexpensive risk to take. The MSRA score is valid for one year, after which you will need to retake the exam if you wish to apply for a specialty that requires it. The MSRA exam is a mandatory part of the application for ophthalmology specialist training in the UK. It is a computer-based exam which is designed to assess junior doctors with foundation level competence. It is used for entry to postgraduate training in ophthalmology as well as a number of other different specialities (for example, radiology, obstetrics and gynaecology). The MSRA is separated into two sections, and you can see an example of a question from each section in our question bank below. Professional Dilemmas PaperThe MSRA Blueprint should be used as a guide to your preparation. This outlines which areas will be tested in the MSRA – not going through this will lead to surprises on the day. It covers quite a lot but if you plan things well it will ensure you cover everything. Ensure that you allocate around three to three months to revise for the exam (if you are revising alongside full-time work). Cover the medical topics outlined in the clinical problem-solving section and practice example questions using online question banks. If you have applied to other specialties you may receive multiple messages containing the same credentials from each. In this instance, you only need to register once. You are allowed to take the MSRA a maximum of three times, although this varies depending on the specialty. If you do not achieve a satisfactory score after three attempts, you may not be eligible to apply for the specialty in question. How much does MSRA exam cost?
