About this deal

That’s where the Igloo BMX cooler comes in. This option was introduced in early 2018 as the latest in Igloo’s lineup of well-performing ice chests that includes the Sportsman, which we previously covered, the IMX ( review here), the Yukon, and the Party Bar, among other unique additions. The BMX option proves to be a reliable option for whatever event you have coming up, earning a 4.6/5 in performance from us, and our guide is here to let you know how it earned such a rating. Compared to other high-end cooler brands on the market, these ice numbers fall about in line with those brands. They don’t quite reach the levels of, say, Techni Ice, but the ice life will far exceed the budget and even mid-range cooler brands on the market. In this review, we will go over the new Igloo BMX Coolers. We will elaborate on their features, discuss build quality, put them through our ice retention test, and finally give them a rating from 0 to 5.

Igloo quotes an ice retention time for the BMX 52 of 5 days, so if you take your items straight out of the freezer and into the cooler, then you’ll likely achieve this. It’s good to see that Igloo has carried a lot of the features over from the BMX 72 to its smaller and cheaper cousin. The T-latch rubber catches add to the tough appearance (and make it look like a cheaper Yeti), there are tie-down loops to keep it secure in your trunk and plenty of patterned stainless steel to provide both style and more importantly, protection. kept all our drinks and chilled food cold for the three days we were away, would have kept longer if needed but we had used it up, so much better than our old 12v coolboxWhile we think the styling of the Igloo BMX Coolers looks great, we do wish that there were some more color options. The combination of grey, blue, and the metallic finish of the diamond plate insert results in a very attractive cooler that stands out from the crowd. When we initially wrote this review, we could only find one color option. Igloo has expanded things some and there is now a larger selection of colors. This was a much-needed addition. But still missing is any sort of team logos and/or custom color options. Cost – One of the other key features of a high-quality cooler is the hardware. The Igloo BMX Coolers have oversized hinges and stainless steel screws to hold the hinges in place. Oftentimes the hardware used goes unnoticed but it is a key piece to a long-lasting cooler. Being stainless steel, it will be much more resilient to rust and wear compared to lower-end materials. Igloo has a slight advantage in size in this case, as the biggest Adventure option is the 30 QT cooler, but the latter has a few extra color options (blue, white, green and red) for those who want their cooler to stand out more from the others at a party. Features: Blow-molded construction, T-latches, Stainless steel hardware, Swing-up handles, Threaded drain plug, Skid pads, Fish ruler, Tie-down points, Cool Riser Technology

However, the latter has a much heavier emphasis on usage in nature, as its bigger options are reserved for big game like elk and moose, making the BMX series more suited for fishing and small game, in addition to parties and tailgating. Other notable features include tie-down slots, diamond plate metal inserts, and a molded fish ruler. These are pretty typical features found on most premium coolers.

Igloo tried to level up their designing game this time. We are impressed with the improvement of the handles this time. You can handle this cooler with a single hand. In addition, the swing-up handles of this cooler complement the rubber grips, giving it better protection while carrying the cooler to places. Warranty Regarding the build, Igloo claims they came up with an enhanced rugged body with sturdy construction and some exciting yet new features. Reason I gave it three stars (would have been 5) is because the Igloo silver branding on the front of cooler was wore off around the edges. I expected the product to be in perfect condition after paying a decent amount of money for it. Other than that the cooler itself is great solid handles and hinges seem robust enough for regular use. Love the grey and blue colour way and is a perfect size to take away for the weekend. The Igloo BMX 52 Quart Cooler is the perfect cooling companion for your next outdoor adventure. Rubberized T-grip latches keep lid secure, and a threaded drain plug is garden hose compatible and features a non-slip, easy-grip stainless steel tethered cap. Cool Riser Technology molded base elevates the cooler away from hot surfaces and improves cooling performance. Read Review When it comes to situations where their coolers come in handy, both BMX coolers and Yeti coolers can be quiet useful for people who have adventures planned for the outdoors, whether it involves fishing, hunting, hiking or biking.

Just taken my new Igloo BMX25 on a 5 day camping trip. I bought it after plenty of research online, I'm very, very pleased with it. the bigger option is the 52 Quart Cooler, weighing in at 16.34 pounds and measuring 26.2 in. x 16.42 in. x 16.06 in. on the outside and 20.75 in. x 12.75 in. x 12 in. on the inside.

Igloo BMX Cooler Review

You know you’ve got a reliable cooler on your hands when it can be useful for just about any situation. That’s the case with Igloo’s BMX series, which, despite its size, is a great option for any occasion, whether it’s a birthday or graduation party with friends and family at someone’s house, a tailgate with friends for a football game, or a fishing and hunting trip in the mountains. Nevertheless, we have found a significant issue with the handles since we believe the handles are a crucial part of a cooler. These rubber handles have plastic tubes on both sides designed very loosely. You will see they are also so loose and dangling on the handles. As a result, there is always a high chance of these tubes falling off, and you can lose them in no time. Where Igloo easily beats Yeti is at the price point. Yeti has and continues to be one of the most expensive cooler brands in the industry. For many, the price that you pay to own a Yeti just isn’t worth the slight performance advantage you may see. Igloo offers up comparable performance at a fraction of the price. When it comes down to it, though, you’re looking for a cooler that can keep everything you put in it chilly, even on the hottest days. For example, there are coolers are have been proven to keep food at a safe temperature for up to five days. However, Yeti’s options go way up from there, with its biggest cooler being the Tundra 350, which measures 24.75 in. x 23.25 in. x 63.5 in. on the outside and 16.75 in. x 17.75 in. x 54.625 in. on the inside. Like we said before, this makes the BMX coolers a better option for shorter camping trips and smaller game.

One thing to decide when you’re going for a larger-capacity cooler, though, is portability. As convenient as the space is, coolers will get much heavier when they’re loaded down. If you want a cooler that’s easier to carry around, consider one like the Arctic Zone Titan Deep Freeze Zipperless Cooler. It still provides space for up to 30 cans but keeps things lightweight with a canvas design.

Price is another big consideration when shopping for a new ice chest. Traditionally, Igloo has competed in the budget and mid-range categories. They strived to strike a nice balance between performance and costs. And overall, they are quite good at that. The fact that they are one of the most popular cooler brands to ever exist is good evidence of that! The new Igloo BMX Quart cooler is one of the most outstanding designs the company Igloo has ever manufactured. The design shows how Igloo has come so far in all these years and understood the market’s demand and its consumers. With the new upgrades and excellent features, this cooler is a big yes.
