About this deal

Easy: These candy frogs are so much fun and are so easy let the kiddos join in the fun of making them

Crispy frogs: You can mix in about 1/4 cup of crisped rice cereal if you want your frogs on the crispy side. These melted in less than a minute in the microwave, I tapped the tray repeatedly to get the bubbles out, and the tray was nice and solid. I let them set up while I made other party preparations the night before. Since the frogs are a little dense, I popped them in the fridge to speed the process. Chilling works, but it can give the chocolate a matte white coating. In the future, I'd make these a few days before the party, and have more trays if I needed more than a dozen. I put them in clear, little cellophane treat bags, and tie them with a ribbon.

The recipes are always pretty simple, but nothing has been as easy as these delicious chocolate frogs. When I say easy, I really mean it…you just need one ingredient! It doesn’t get any simpler than that! 💖Why We Love This Recipe Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate - For best results, use quality chocolate. I highly recommend using the Ghirardelli brand for the dark chocolate. I have tried a lesser brand as well as melting chocolate from a bulk bin store, and both resulted in streaky chocolate frogs because of the higher wax and shortening content in them. Chocolate: You can switch this recipe up with dark chocolate chips or even white ones. Just remember that with white chocolate, you’ll have to use a double boiler. Milk chocolate has more cocoa solids and is easier to work with in the microwave compared to white chocolate that’s mostly cocoa butter.Chocolate Chips - Use a name-brand milk chocolate chip. Off-brands or bargain brands use wax and other fillers in them, causing the chocolate to streak and not set up well. How to Make Jelly belly frogs: A really fun twist is to add a single jelly belly in the center of each frog before the chocolate dries. It’s a yummy surprise when you bite into the middle of each delicious treat. You can also melt chocolate in a double boiler. Read here for How to Melt Chocolate in a Double Boiler.

If you visit my blog regularly, you’ve probably already figured out that we are big Harry Potter fans! We adore all the Harry Potter Books and movies and love recreating all the fun Harry Potter recipes. From the iconic Butterbeer to Pumpkin Pasties, we just can’t get enough. Allow the chocolate to cool and reharden at room temperature or in a cool room. This may take a few hours. You can chill and store them in the fridge, but be aware that the chocolate will change colors and look streaky. If you have used quality chocolate, the streaks will disappear when the frogs return to room temperature. If you have used cheap or lesser-quality chocolate, the streaks may remain.

Lightly lift and tap the sheet pan against the countertop a few times to shake any air bubbles that may be in the melted chocolate shake to the top and pop.
