The show will be hosted by the British actress Hannah Waddingham, the British singer Alesha Dixon and the Ukrainian singer Julia Sanina. Of course, the beloved Graham Norton will also be joining the three presenters in the finale as no Eurovision Song Contest would be complete without him. As we previously mentioned, the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 is being held in Liverpool and is the 67th annual contest. The contest is being held on behalf of last year’s winner Ukraine. This year, there will be 37 countries taking part in the contest. The keen-eyed among you will spot that this means as we get closer to the top, songs in sixth, fifth, fourth place etc start leaping over the interim leader. But the interim leader is the last one to have their public points added, so you pretty much never know what the final result will be until there are only two or three more scores to be added.
The bingo cards are updated each year and in each box to mark off you will find standard acts associated with Eurovision plus many that have been specifically added to represent the host country which this year is, of course, the UK! I’ll try to call them out along the way but usually forget. And also try not to get into complicated arguments about musicology as to whether something is technically a key change or not. We all know that cynical rising key change for the final set of choruses when you hear it. All you’ve got to do is mark them off as they occur. The first person to mark most or all of the items is declared the winner.
