About this deal

Since I’m not really a beer drinker, I usually go for a lighter beer; it adds the flavor but has less of the hoppy or deep dark beer flavor that some have (don’t you love how technical I am about beer …haha!). Let me tell you, it is all pantry staple ingredients that is simple to mix together and bake all in one day. It is that fun and easy! Homemade bread is one of my very favorite things to eat. Pair it with your favorite soup, slow cooker meal or just enjoy it warm and fresh out of the oven. Enjoy it anyway you want it! The kind of beer that you’ll use will also affect the taste of your bread. If you use the fruity kind of beer, it will lend to a loaf of sweeter, fruity beer bread, whereas if you use the dark ale ones, you’ll have a robust-flavored beer, too. So, I recommend that you use the type of beer that you know and love. Honey: A touch of honey creates a sweeter bread that is comforting and will melt in your mouth, it is that good!

Super-simple to make, simply combine the included baking mix with your favourite 330ml bottle of beer and stir to create a stiff batter, then place the dough into a greased loaf pan and bake for around 45 minutes. The result will be a fabulous loaf with a crispy crust and a fluffy inside, and for an extra crispy crust, why not try brushing over some melted butter before baking. Add 1 can (355mL/1 and ½ cups) of beer at room temperature to the Beer Bread Mix and stir just until combined. Either variation is delicious with a hot bowl of soup or as a side for dinner. Add it to a charcouterie board for another tasty option.

beer– clearly this is vital. Any kind can be used, I used a light lager type beer as you can see. If you are a craft beer fan or like stout and dark ales like that, you can also use that, and will get added flavour in this case. One bottle (330 ml) is required. Alcohol-free beer works too! To freeze beer bread, wrap it tightly with plastic wrap and then place it in a freezer bag or container for up to 3 months. Beer can be a scary word for some people. I know we don’t drink it or promote it but with this combination it creates a homemade bread skipping the yeast. If you are not a beer fan in general you don’t have to worry about the taste either. There is no beer taste, no alcohol in the bread and no way to get a little tipsy with this bread recipe. It is family friendly, kid friendly and full of flavor without the beer taste. Give it a try and see how amazed you will be! What is Beer Bread? You can use your favourite herbs, fresh or dried. Top with your favourite grated cheese. Medium or old cheddar and asiago are the family favourites. Science explains that the addition of beer on sourdoughs or yeasted bread can give more food for the yeast culture to feed on which explains the faster proving time (letting the dough rise) This combination would often result in loaves with an open crumb and large irregular bubbles.

Optional– if you like you can add in some optional flavourings like some grated mature cheddar cheese, garlic powder, dried herbs. Use what you have. A tablespoon of Marmite will also add a nice savoury flavour. self-raising flour – you’ll need some kind of flour to make most breads. If you have no self-raising you could use plain with 2 teaspoons of baking powder instead. So if you are out of yeast to make bread, you can use beer with flour instead, the yeast in the beer will make your bread rise, by interacting with sugar.

Easy Beer Bread Recipe

Think of all the things you can get done whileit’s baking and you’re not kneading and rolling and cutting… Beer – Guinness, IPA, Farmhouse Ale, Pale Ale, Brown Ale, Belgian. You can use lighter beers as well, but they’ll offer less flavor.

To freeze the bread, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap, then again in aluminum foil, and store in the freezer for up to 2 months. Thaw on the counter overnight. Some call 3 2 1 bread, some call it 123 beer bread, and at the end of the day it’s a beer bread recipe with 3 ingredients and there’s so much to love.

Make sure that your self-rising flour is fresh. If the leavening agents in the self-rising flour are no longer effective, your bread will not rise.

And as I said, I don’t actually really care for beer (if you’re just tuning in – I’m a wine girl all the way), but that doesn’t stop me from spreadingon some butter and chowing down on two, or three…or four… slices of this homemade bread. Butter: melted butter on top of the bread helps it brown in the oven, adds rich, delicious flavor, and gives it a crisp exterior (while the inside stays moist and tender). We prefer the salty contrast of salted butter, but unsalted butter is fine too. Beer: Beer helps this bread rise, and it also adds flavor. Dark beer, like stouts, have a deep flavor, while light beer makes for lighter-tasting bread. Both are great; just use what you have on hand!Beer Can: Go with your favorite or try something new. The main reason for the beer is not for flavoring but for creating a yeast with the baking powder. Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. It may rise into odd shapes from the action of the beer, you can see my loaf pictured has a large bubble on top on one side! There are two kinds of beer bread, both of which are incredibly simple. In fact, my favourite way is so simple a child could do it (disclaimer: don’t let a child do it). All you need to do is mix a 330ml bottle of beer, 375g of self-raising flour and 3 teaspoons of sugar in a bowl with a spoon. Pour it into a bread tin, top with a drizzle of melted butter and bake at 180°C/360°F for about 50 minutes, or until golden and crisp on top. Beer– You can mix this easy recipe up with your favorite beer or whatever you have on hand! The options are endless! Stouts, IPAs, Wheats, Ales, oh my!
