About this deal

Senseframe has enough traction for change of direction; heel counter is strong and stable; not sure if Softstuds work as intended for ball control Lets start with visuals, and I think this is where a lot of players have established their opinion by looking at the outside and not what they have on offer on the inside. Lets be honest, I wouldn’t really blame those that have made a decision based on the visuals. They are a slightly odd looking boot and really aren’t that trendy. It has a lot to do with the wavy patterns on the calf leather upper and sitting along the synthetic midfoot area. They actually kind of remind me of the Under Armour Speedform with their articulated toe box. But overall, they don’t really scream cool or trendy.

However, I am genuinely curious to see if this will be a commercial success for adidas. Leather boot enthusiasts are usually in the 30s to 50s age range having experienced great leather boots in their younger days. The three stripes did a bold move in having so little leather in the Copa Sense .1 which clearly shows that they only have Gen Z customers in mind for this. These are players who have only known synthetic boots like the Ace and the X – during a time where leather boots have been seen as passe.Laced Pure II+ feels like the speedy alternative to the Pure II.1 because it has a tighter sensation once the laces are tied tight; Pure II+ not anymore built for laceless setup In terms of playability, I found them to be ideal for wear right out of the box. There isn’t a whole lot of break-in time needed seeing as they entire construction of the boot is geared toward allowing your foot to naturally move inside a pliable shell. Even the soleplate has a natural bend that doesn’t hinder comfort in any way. One of my favorite pieces of these boots is that calf skin upper. It is super pliable, stitched in where the cut line makes a V across the fore forefoot. But, there is something different about these, something a lot more positive that gives them greater appeal to players on a set budget. In other words, I’m here to tell you that they are misunderstood and underappreciated. Here is why you should at least give them a chance. Get Past The Visuals! Speaking of Sensepods, you might need to give the new Copa some time to break-in for you to avoid getting blisters. The Sensepods constantly rub against your heel, so be sure to give it some time to get accustomed to the new sensation.

And here is the part where I tell you to get past the visuals – these have so much more on offer. So, take the look out and listen to how they rate on foot. Reinforcing overlay on the elastic Primeknit tongue is improved; has pieces of breaks that allow the Primeknit to stretch width-wise but not necessarily length-wise; good for providing enough midfoot compression and not being too restrictive The fit is also much improved given the new dynamic of the Fusionskin and triple foam, plus the removal of the Sensepods that really took some time for some to get used to. The Adidas Copa Sense is a juxtaposition of a boot. It feels both steeped in nostalgia and very modern. Not the widest, can be worn by wide feet but be prepared to have an intimate relationship with the upper

What is new with the Copa Sense?

You’ll notice that 2 medial forefoot studs are coloured differently with a more coarse base compared to the rest of the plate. adidas calls them “SOFTSTUDS” and though they don’t feel much soft to the touch, they are intended to bend when receiving the ball, creating a cushion effect. Perhaps it's the moulded leather that makes it great for that or maybe it's the tight, comfortable fit that makes the ball more in tune with the different areas of your foot. We're no scientists but the shape of the boot – streamlined without feeling like a running shoe – is just perfect for passing. After 2 solid years with the adidas Copa 19/20, the Three Strips have revealed the successor to their leather boot in the form of the Copa Sense. A welcome update, the Copa Sense is an elegant boot that looks to improve on one of the most comfortable boots we’ve worn in recent years. It's a surprise, too, that they're quite so good for that. The Predator is most associated with raking balls, yet the Copa Sense is extremely adept at taking the sting out of a heavy pass and returning it deftly.

Some people live and die by the old ways. Case in point, vinyl records. Those who love vinyl swear by them and claim that MP3s can never beat the nice warm sound that emanates from the age old tech. It’s an experience that only the enlightened can appreciate, they say. What you really get is a thin layer of leather pressed onto knit and foam which explains how adidas managed to have leather produce a wavy embossed effect all across that upper. We’ve had the Copa Sense .1 on feet Since the introduction of the Copa 19 in 2018, the modern Copa has been synonymous with the Fusionskin technology that seamlessly fuses a forefoot leather to knit that comprised the rest of the upper. The outgoing Copa Sense was no exemption, and it even strategically added memory foam inserts to help the leather in dampening the ball touch. adidas silos do have distinct identities that make them viable in their own right. The X is all about speed. The Predator is all about grip and accuracy. The present Copa concerns itself with making leather boots still relevant in today’s football.Last but not least, the soleplate. I love how classy this new design is with the wavy design stretching to the heel area with the external heel counter. It also looks great out of the box with a glossy finish (on the + and the .1 variants) that will be certain to break your heart with scuff marks once you wear it on pitch. The stud patterns are pretty standard from adidas, mostly moon-shaped and semi-conical studs for a good mix of manoeuvrability and traction on FG and AG ground.
