About this deal

You're going to be looking at this piece of baby kit for a few years, so make sure you love it! Think about where you're going to use it too, and how the design will work in that space. For example, a chair with wide legs will be fine if it sits behind the dining table, but if it's in a busy part of the kitchen, you're likely to stub your toes on it. And If you intend to use the highchair between meals for playtime activities like drawing or messy play, opt for one with a large tray or one that can be positioned at the dining table so that your baby has plenty of space to get creative. Getting the wiggles out before mealtimes can burn off some of your baby's energy. This way, they're less likely to want to move around once it's mealtime. Let them have some tummy time, get them crawling or jumping around before you sit them in their chair. Look over the seat pads or cushion. Stains or fading patterns are fine, but look out for holes where a nimble-fingered baby might pull out foam, as it can be a choking hazard.

The quality of the materials used in the product is evident, particularly on the seat cushioning with the luxe leather feel. The chair is also clearly well-engineered with all mechanisms smooth and intuitive - both signifiers of premium quality.

Silver Cross’s Buffet high chair might be a touch on the pricey side, but since it will see your little one through from a newborn to a toddler, it’s actually rather good value. This fun-loving design from Infantino is a brilliant value-for-money high chair that converts into a booster and toddler seat. Naturally, thanks to its engaging and colourful design, it proved a hit with our one-year-old tester, but it’s great for parents, too.

The most common age that a baby will start needing a highchair is around the six-month-old mark because babies typically begin to sit up on their own and eat solid foods at this stage in their development. How do I get my baby to stay in their highchair? I’d recommend this to someone who is willing to invest in the Silver Cross brand for a practical product that will be the only highchair they’ll need.' Folding high chairs – with some high chairs, you have to remove the tray before you fold it. This can become annoying if you have to do it several times a day, although some have handy spots on the frame where you can store the tray when it's not in use. Depending on your child’s height and confidence with sitting, you’ll be using your high chair three to five times daily for around 18 months. As such, it’s worth getting one that will comfortably fit your baby for this period, and will last the distance. This is the reason it’s sometimes worth spending a little extra. Most high chairs fit children up to around three years old, but it’s likely your child will be sitting on a standard dining chair before then – most children will use a high chair from six months to around two years.

The seat then detaches and acts as a booster seat, either with or without the tray table; or, the seat can be removed completely, giving your child a seat in which to sit and play, or the option to sit up at the table. Our toddler tester loved the independence of sitting at a regular dining room chair on this booster seat with his brother, while we liked the fact this seat keeps him a little more secure. What’s more, as your child gets older, the tray table can be attached to the legs of the highchair and the seat lowered to provide a play table. Key specs – Height: 107.3cm; Weight: 12.2kg; Other: 5-point safety harness, detachable tray, optional newborn insert; Age: 6 months to 6 years Cleaning: As mums, we know how messy our tots can be. So for many parents, it's important to find a high chair that's easy to clean. We've included the materials in our list so you can see how easy it will be to keep clean. The padding and five-point harness help to hold my baby upright which is important as she isn’t able to sit up unaided at the moment despite being over six months. The chair’s adjustability means it will see your child from baby to toddler. This means it will last longer than most so it's good value for money.
