Plumber’s putty and silicone caulk are 2 of the best sealants for sink drains. While both will create a good seal, plumber’s putty is the most preferred for sink drain flanges while silicone caulk provides the best seal between the edges of the sink and the countertop. Here's a step by step guide on how I fitted the kitchen sink waste pipe and trap in my utility. It also includes a trap connected to a washing machine hose.
