It also plays on last gen consoles, behind the scenes it is in many ways a less taxing game just with a high graphical sheen, it also has a FAR higher budget and larger team. That isn't the case here, Asobo are known for pushing physics and tech with a a relatively small studio, very unlikely they are leaving much performance on the table though with more time, staff or and budget they could definitely get better performance.

Crafting materials that make the alchemy skills are plentiful – a bit too plentiful, with no way to adjust the difficulty level. Because you can find more than enough supplies throughout each level, A Plague Tale never really encourages you to think about making your strategy for clearing a puzzle efficient. A Plague Tale’s use of these crafting and skill systems isn’t time consuming or tedious, which I appreciate; that said, both features lower the stakes by making everything too convenient and removing the need to make tough decisions.One of the best aspects of A Plague Tale is its world, which has an ominous emptiness to it. Well, at least when it comes to living things that aren’t overwhelming waves of terrifying rats. It’s not uncommon to come across mass graves of those who died from the Plague, and in one particularly somber sequence you actually have to walk across an entire field of bodies. Most of the living that you come across want to kill Amicia, Hugo, and various companions that help you throughout their journey. This foreboding atmosphere matches the dreariness and depravity of the areas you’ll explore, from darkened forests to abandoned castles to ghostly villages to Inquisition camps, though they all look far more dangerous and daunting than they actually are. To upgrade your Sling, you can either use the workbenches you find in the next chapters or take advantage of the crafting menu using which allows you to upgrade your Sling on the go. The Sling has three upgrade levels for two different categories, Strings and Pouch. To completely upgrade it you need to complete each upgrade level for both categories. To move to the next level, you need to have the right type and amount of crafting materials needed for that specific upgrade. Each chapter has lots of crafting materials, but for some of them, such as fabric, cord, and leather, the game isn’t exactly generous. That tale is aided by absolutely stunning graphics, music, and voice acting that just made me want to spend time exploring this ruined world and hanging out with my NPC allies. The game captures sibling love remarkably well, putting you in the shoes of Amicia, a noble girl who must take care of her younger brother Hugo as the two try to survive 1348 France. On their journey, the two will come face-to-face with a country ravaged by the Hundreds Years' War, the French Inquisition, and the bubonic plague, the latter of which has been personified into a literal horde of ravenous rats. As they fight their way to the Bastion, Rodric sacrifices himself to protect Hugo and Amicia. Vitalis awaits their arrival, having bred thousands of white rats that only he can control. Hugo ultimately overpowers Vitalis and Amicia kills him. Three days later, both the rats and the plague have disappeared and life begins to return to normal; many remain wary of Hugo and his power, including Mélie, who parts ways with the group.
