About this deal

Ms. Red Ink: Ayako attempts to invoke this to make Takkun stop being in love with her, but her common sense wins out, and she doesn't go through with buying a purse costing hundreds of thousands of yen. Breaking the Fourth Wall: In a scene early in the manga, Miu wants to have some wine, which Ayako vehemently objects to...since you can't show underage characters drinking in manga. I was pretty off put by the fact that he has liked her since he was 10… and that this love at first sight happened because they bathed together. It was a totally innocent bath. Takumi was cold and soaked to the bone by the rain and Ayako, who has a kid, didn’t think too much of it to just also dive into the bath as she was also cold. But apparently how Ayako looked and what she said stayed with him and he fell in love. Yep. I was happy that Ayako was pretty put off about that as well. Like, WHAT? NO ><. Ayako herself is a good character - she selflessly gave up her twenties to raise her niece, Miu, as her own and got Takumi along in the bargain. He’s been nursing a crush on Ayako all this time and now they he’s actually of legal age (the very notion!) he is poised to make his move.

Story is about thirty-something woman that raised her sister's daughter after her sister and sister's husband died in an accident. It is standard story - serious, gorgeous looking woman devotes her twenties to raising a kid and have a good career and thus misses on her romantic life. And when her nephew comes of age she sees her in relation with the neighbor, [as it was supposed to be otherwise] good looking early twenty member of swimming team (did I say mushy, this is so eeeeeekkk for me, its like watching those romantic soap opera TV movies :))

Reviews

My rating 10/10, is more about overall enjoyment, because while this is certainly not a master piece and is not for everyone, I have enjoyed just as much as any masterpiece. About the only thing one can complain about is that it is quite slow paced, and the heroine is constantly in self denial, together with the fact that it is somewhat hard to believe that a thirty year old woman would behave like she does sometimes. Buxom Beauty Standard: It has been stated by many characters, and shown many times, that Ayako has a very impressive bust size. Rivalled only by her own Hartman Hips, if she had a smaller waist she would have an Impossible Hour Glass Figure. The most unique part of this relationship is that there is a very significant age gap and that the way these characters met involved 1 character going through various stages of early mental development/maturity while the other character witnessed this growth but goes through completely different life stages. IMO the author glosses over the difficulty that I could write a lot more but all in all, this story falls flat. There is no depth in either the characters or the story and all potential material to provide depth has already been written over with cupcakes and rainbows. All of the interactions instead feel forced and extremely uncomfortable. The only excuse you can make for all of these flaws is... because such a relationship based on realism would be quite unhealthy and toxic otherwise. Therefore the only possible way to write such a story is to gloss over all potential problems to create the most nonsensical and self-gratifying fantasy.

And while the drama can sometimes be a bit hard to swallow, it still is leagues above 99% of all other novels and easier to believe. Very interesting story, there are comic relief elements, standard teens smarter than grownups situations (like I said, standard romantic TV movie :)) and lots of sexual tension with touch of erotica. VISITOR - Seikon no Joka - The Dishes of Darkness - Hundred Harvester - Gakuen Bugei-cho - Called Gahenna - Nanohazard - EAT-MAN (LN) - Gekkou Majutsu-dan - Dokkoida?! - Devilman THE NOVEL - Happy Salvage - Dark Eyes - Train Raider - Tsuki to Anata ni Hanataba wo - COOLDOWN - TRAIN + TRAIN - Anabel Crescent Moon -Jukon no Biki- - D4 Princess - Masoukishin Psybuster - Chivas 1-2-3 Birth of Outlaw - Remove Curse The art was quite good. The artist was really good at capturing some great expressions, Ayako as the winner in the funny and OMG that facial expression.

Hollywood Pudgy: Ayako invokes this in one of her attempts to dissuade Takkun, showing him how "flabby" she's gotten since she was younger (read: her belly is just a tiny bit softer than it used to be). Like all her Please Dump Me attempts, it doesn't work. I do like the story. I thought it was cute and fast paced but... there is one chapter I'm not sure on how to feel. It was awkward and pretty cringe and I'm kind of questioning if I want to continue because of it. My husband will be getting the next one, so who knows...
