There are a number of different holidays, events and festivals throughout the year that exist as a way of giving us a chance to celebrate our differences. LGBT History Month takes place annually during February, and is a month-long celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender history, as well as the history of the gay rights and related civil rights movements.

Asking these questions will help children to get to know each other and learn that everyone is different and unique. This is a fantastic activity to do at the start of the school year or during an 'All About Me' topic, encouraging children to learn about each other and themselves. One of the most important lessons to learn as a child is to embrace and celebrate our differences. Fostering a general atmosphere of kindness in your classroom not only helps children improve their social skills but also sets them up fantastically for the rest of their lives. Teaching children to be proud of their differences, whilst also being respectful towards others, can hopefully inspire them to be positive and kind people when they grow older. Many well-meaning people will sagely tell you we are all unique, that we have our own peculiarities and idiosyncrasies. This makes you believe that no two people are alike just like no two snowflakes are alike. The activities are fun and highly engaging which will help develop the focus and attention of the child. For some activities, key words have been included to support the teaching of the subject and activity while in other cases, songs have been included to reinforce the task. Then there are others who insist that alike or not, we’re all snowflakes after all. They tell you we are all the same. He says he doesn’t want attention. But did you look at his face when he was called up to speak? He clearly loved the attention. We all love attention. We’re all the same.Some may not want to have kids because they just don’t see it as an important goal to have in life. Why not start off the project with a class discussion? Facilitate interaction by asking your students to see if they identify with any of the characteristics of the people in the banner. What words come to mind? Can they write any of them down? Making sure each child feels represented is so important. It’s unlikely their behaviour has something to do with their genetic programming. What’s happened in their case is that they’ve formed certain beliefs that have overridden their desire to reproduce.
