About this deal

For reasons of hygiene and safety, personal grooming products, cosmetics or items of intimate clothing cannot be returned. This mold was redecoed into the purple Megalligator ( see below), released individually to be his own character Megalligator and a different redeco was proposed for the unproduced Albitron. The Iguanus version of the mold was redecoed into Crazybolt. A gold redeco of the original MP-5 mold, Megatron Gold Version is a Hasbro Asia release under the TakaraTomy label (making it the first TakaraTomy Masterpiece to not be released, thus far, in Japan). It comes with all the same accessories as the original release as well as a new, non-transforming Reflector in camera mode.

This mold was also used, with different heads and accessories, to make the other Transformers GT toys: GT-R Prime, GT-R Saber, and GT-R Maximus. The toy suffers from a number of unusual shortcomings, and proved a rather hefty shelfwarmer. Notably, due to a large number of design flaws, it is known to fall apart very easily, with the crotch coming undone with minimal force and the arms and legs often popping off over the course of basic transformation or even movement. In particular, the lower body is attached to the torso by very thin open clips, unsuited for holding up the weight of entirely die-cast legs, and the lower arms, which need to be pulled out, are extremely liable to disconnect from their balljoints rather than extending properly. Many of the joints are also extremely loose, owing to both poor construction and the excessive weight of the limbs. The original version of this mold was use to make Archforce and 2001 Robots in Disguise Bludgeon (which has been repurposed to also be Shattered Glass Bludgeon) and Yellow Megatron.

In a slightly more sane attempt, another triple changer was proposed which would switch between Megatron, a very awkward Galvatron, and a Walther P-38 handgun with a futuristic silencer and laser sight.

Optimus prime doesn't come with a gun. Again, why? They did this with the Bumblebeeas well and it makes no sense. The Alternity Megatron toy transforms into a 1:32 scale model of a Nissan 370Z and features die-cast metal parts and rubber tires. The figure wields two "tesseractal swords" which can be pegged at its hips, or stored under the car in vehicle mode. Each forearm features a flip-out "gravital blade." The tank's turret can detach and become a "jet throne," which features flip-out wings, and the body of the tank transforms into a missile-launcher battle station. The battle station has two seats on either side behind the missile launchers (non-firing) and a stowing bay in the center for an additional figure. The Kreon Class of 1984 version of Megatron is even more toy-based tampographs than his prior versions, including his face detailing. Yes, it's a whole new tampograph layout. He's also mostly in metallic silver plastic, yet his helmet remains light flat gray.Despite the change to the toy's colors, the box art on this set, the same art used for the Hasbro releases, was recolored to match the blue of the previous releases. Whoops.
