Nice family dynamic! Not toxic! Family that mostly likes each other! So I think it’s important to note that Aaron’s brothers are wonderful guys. They are kind but strong and are willing to drop everything to protect each other. The world building in this book is absolutely phenomenal. At first, I was slightly confused, but that has nothing to do with the way it is written. Family isn’t always blood. It’s the people in your life who want you in theirs; the ones who accept you for who you are.” the dynamic between the four brothers, luke, zach, aaron, and presley, was great and i really enjoyed reading about it. at times, i did feel that the three older brothers were a bit overwhelming. the author posted on tiktok about how luke and zach were the over-protective brothers and aaron was a big cinnamon-roll. i felt like it was too much in some areas. like the author was trying really hard to make them fit those characterizations and ended up making luke and zach over-protective in areas that other characters didn’t even need protection and aaron an overly-spiced cinnamon-roll that made him seem immature. (hopefully everyone understands what i’m trying to get across.) again, this was in some scenes and not throughout the entire book. Wren has never stolen a life, but that doesn’t stop her from believing her darkness makes her a walking nightmare. Harboring a power so lethal, unpredictable, and entirely forbidden by kingdom law, Wren’s spent her whole life hiding what she is—who she is. A bloodwitch.Lor is an admirable heroine, and Tuli does a great job making all the tributes feel like unique characters and not copy and paste replicas of one another.

Again like the first book this book comes across as very YA, the spice is just kissing. As a college/fraternity setting I was hoping for a little bit more than that. It had been 8 months since I read the first book and this book doesn’t really recap on the smaller details so I highly recommend doing a re-read or skim over the first book again to refresh yourself with all the characters and smaller plot points, so you aren’t lost like I was.The ending of this book 🤯 It has me on the edge of my seat and I cannot wait for The Bonds That Break Us! There were so, so many commas to the point of distraction. After a while, I was able to forget about it.
