Although most famously known for creating Forest Gin, this Macclesfield-based Forest Distillery also offers one of the best English whiskies in the industry. The distillers blended 100% malt whiskies aged at least eight years old and then finished the spirit using a 50-year-old Oloroso Sherry cask. You may have read the news about the recently founded English Whisky Guild (EWG). 15 founding distilleries - including Cooper King - came together at the start of 2022 to form the EWG. Its overarching vision is for English whisky to be recognised globally as a respected choice for whisky drinkers. Many more have now joined the EWG. To date only a handful of single cask whiskies have been released, which have shown plenty of promise. These include maturation in ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, plus red wine barrels from Bordeaux. Our three main whisky expressions are Ex-Bourbon, Bordeaux, and Sherry. After being distilled in our Alembic copper still, our whiskies are aged in these unique casks to influence the flavour of the final spirits. The production combined column and pot still whiskies aged in Sherry and bourbon barrels. The casks impart a more flavorful profile to the whisky.
