About this deal

I can say without a doubt after writing this Youth to the People skincare review, that I definitely recommend this brand. I love that its products are both sustainable and effective. It’s refreshing to see a company that isn’t so corporate, as Youth to the People is passionate about supporting various philanthropic organizations. As for nightly routines, cleanse first, then apply the mask. Consider forgoing the moisturizer, unless you wake up feeling dry (which simply won’t happen with any of the masks on our list). “Generally speaking, if you feel dry in the morning you can benefit from adding an additional moisturizer the night before in addition or consider switching to a different product,” but most don’t need the extra assistance. In the morning, wash off the mask and begin your morning routine. We diligently applied it every night (as directed) over our two-week testing period and saw a dramatic jump in moisture and overall radiance. This is a solid entry-level mask for those who are new to the skincare game, or are seeking a one-size-fits-all solution — and with the inclusion of avocado oil, you’re also getting a solid supply of microbiome-supporting prebiotics. I also found it very helpful that they have a free skin consultation program where you can find out your skin type and what products work best for you.Oftentimes, shopping for skincare can be overwhelming, so I think this is a neat little feature that can help you find the items best suited for your needs.

Light, silky and infused with gentle lavender notes, Sisley's Velvet Sleeping Mask with Saffron Flowers worked a veritable miracle on our parched skin, offering a high level of hydration over the course of our two-week testing period. In a delightfully surprising twist of fate, it also completely cleared up a sudden breakout as well along the way. What We Don’t Love: Those with sensitive skin may want to ease slowly into making this mask a part of their routine, as it's a powerful exfoliant that may prove irritating if used too frequently.

The superfood antioxidant blend in this cream includes kale, spinach, green tea, and alfalfa. The formula also contains two moisture magnets: hyaluronic acid and panthenol (provitamin B5). These are two of the best ingredients for drawing moisture into the skin, giving you a plumped up, dewy complexion. Green tea leaves contain e pigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a type of polyphenol that is widely regarded as one of the most powerful antioxidants available. EGCG targets free radicals, particularly those caused by UV-induced oxidative damage. The toner also features a blend of 8% lactic acid and 3% glycolic acid, which are both alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs). AHAs exfoliate the skin by enhancing the breakdown of dead skin cells, leading to smoother, more radiant skin. The combination of these two AHAs not only exfoliate but work synergistically to retain hydration. Is The Youth to The People Cleanser Right For You? Overall, we think that the Youth to The People products are formulated well, although we wish the brand would formulate all of their products without fragrance. Pros

The story behind this brand began when cousins Joe Cloyes and Greg Gonzalez, who had both worked in the skincare industry for years, noticed a void in the market. There wasn’t a modern, straightforward, vegan skincare line that was good for all skin types and everyday use. So they created one. Rich texture – The texture is lovely and rich, like a creamy lemon sorbet that melts in your hands. You can apply a thin layer on your skin without effort.Evocative of an earthy, natural product one might find at a health co-op, this lightweight mask is applied by hand, which can be somewhat messy, but all was forgiven when we woke up on the very first morning to a noticeably brighter, more even complexion, and smaller pores (most likely thanks to the strawberry leaf extract's impact). What We Love: Such markedly noticeable skin improvements had people asking if we'd recently gotten Botox or filler.

Why apply them at night? It’s the ideal time to maximize those potent formulations. “Skin regeneration is at its height between 10:00 P.M. and 2:00 A.M., and cell turnover increases when the body is in a deep, restful sleep,” says Dr. Dendy Engelman, M.D., a board-certified dermatologist at New York’s Shafer Clinic. Overnight face masks help supplement this process with key ingredients to support hydration and renewal.

More “Best Of” Organic Beauty:

Drying out acne-prone skin can actually lead to more breakouts. Instead, Dr. Engelman recommends using hydrating ingredients. In testing, we also found that the deeply moisturizing Sisley Paris Velvet Sleeping Mask effectively soothed chin breakouts. “Hyaluronic acid helps wounds heal faster and reduces scarring, while helping to keep the skin barrier healthy through hydration,” she says. Balance it with clarifying formulations that sweep away pore-clogging skin cells. How We Tested
