About this deal

Connect SPM-Main to your router using an Ethernet cable, and one of the following methods is available to connect. This version of the device supports the new Itead DIY architecture which allows OTA firmware upload. The device was reviewed by DigiblurDIY in this video.

Note: SONOFF BASICR3 does NOT have 433Mhz RF receiver module. If you want a diy smart switch with RF function, please buy SONOFF RFR3. I’m not sure why such a convoluted way to something so simple, but I decided to roll with it. I changed the WiFi credentials and I could use this cumbersome tool to toggle the status ON and OFF. It was time to see if I can issue commands.I flashed TASMOTA software onto these devices the old-fashioned way with an FTDI then upgraded to the latest Tasmota release using the Tasmota OTA (over-the-air updates) facility. What I’ve not yet managed is getting the indicator lights right (feel free to step in and advise if you are familiar with putting Tasmota on these particular devices (I have one BASICR3 and one BASICR3 RF – the unit shown in the photos is the RF version – not that I actually use the RF facility as I run these on WIFI).

ATTENTION. From this part and on, the tutorial describes procedures that involve working with mains power. If you have not taken the necessary time to learn how to work with it safely, stop right now and ask for someone knowledgeable to assist and teach you. Do not take this warning lightly. Mains power can kill you or set your house on fire or both (or worse). Be safe. The response will contain the number of the request and the error code. {"seq":3,"error":0} Inching settings Here’s the BasicR3 with my )not quite long enough) replacement PCB button (the white glue is theirs, not mine).I wrote this tutorial for GNU/Linux users. That is, unless otherwise specified, the instructions assume that you are running a Linux distribution on your PC/laptop that will be used to interact with (and serve files to) the Sonoff device. If running iOS, you might be able to adapt the procedure more easily than if you were running Windows or other OS. I’m currently blogging about the more expensive 16A Shelly One power controller and already this summer I’ve written about the Gosund units, but regular readers will be aware that I’m a long-term fan of Sonoff and their various low cost controllers. My most recent acquisition is a pair of Sonoff BasicR3 Power Controllers and I now have a pair of Sonoff Minis on the way.

The SONOFF devices [1] can work in either eWeLink mode or DIY Mode, In eWeLink mode, the device is connected with eWeLink cloud and controlled by eWeLink APP, while in DIY Mode, device publishes its capability service and is controlled by HTTP Post request. The operation failed and the request was formatted incorrectly. The request body is not a valid JSON format.Sep/2021:12:51:30 -0300] "GET /tasmota-lite.bin?deviceid=10011b78f7&ts=1576460931&sign=c2029fdd9d52ed2272c085ba79ffd5a88f11e94c8385f41bb68630de3c7b39b5 HTTP/1.1" 206 4399 "-" "itead-device" Get the Hostname and Port of device service via parsing out the device DNS SRV record. (The default port is 8081) September 25th, 2021, Update #2: Changed the instructions in the Webserver Configuration section from BusyBox HTTPD to the more reliable Apache2 alternative. This is motivated by unreliable results when using BusyBox. As with Sonoff Basic R3 board comes with GI-1A-5DH relay capable of 10A. This is exactly the same layout as well. data1={“switch”:”on”,”startup”:”stay”,”pulse”:”on”,”pulseWidth”:2000,”rssi”:-67,”fwVersion”:”3.5.0”}

There are two LEDs on these devices, on mine, the leftmost is RED and should show the state of the relay, the rightmost is blue and should show WIFI connectivity. In fact right now I get only the rightmost blue light which is showing relay status. AND initial WIFI status. I need to get to grips with the Tasmota configuration (most likely the template option) September 25th, 2021, Update #1: Updated the curl commands to escape double quotation marks ( ") in the -d (HTTP POST data) argument. I also made other minor changes to improve command execution (e.g., setting up environmental variables for IP_SONOFF and IP_HOST), fix typos, and improve readability. Usable GPIO: - GPIO14 is broken out on the PCB adjacent to the GND pin. - GPIO13 - You must remove the bi-colour LED - GPIO04 - You must solder wire to pin on ESP chip Official Sources ~Entering the Compatible Pairing Mode (AP) by long press the paring button for 5 seconds after power on Fortunately, there are alternatives that require flashing a different firmware onto Sonoff devices. The Tasmota firmware, for example, is a well-known alternative that provides easy integration with existing home-automation servers and let users control devices via multiple methods, such as webUI, HTTP requests, and MQTT, all of which can be accessed either locally or remotely or both. On top of that, it is free and open-source. Traditionally, flashing a Tasmota firmware onto a Sonoff device involves finding a serial connection, soldering a few cables/pins, and connecting the device to a serial-to-USB adapter. However, more often than not, this takes time, knowledge about electronics, and soldering very small components.
