About this deal

Where we left off here (and we do get a HEA for Max and Cassidy) left me wanting to learn more I’m so excited to be starting Bronson’s story next he’s such a contradiction of humour and violence so I’m looking forward to getting up close and personal with him. This series so far has been very enjoyable and I do recommend it. Nicci’s writing style makes you feel every single word. She is very creative with how she expl What’s bizarre is that Fern never considers an abortion. She doesn’t have to choose that, obviously. But it doesn’t feel believable that she’s not at least THINK about her options – even if she’d conclude that she’s choosing to have the baby. There’s a hole in the center of this story where there SHOULD be her having feelings about carrying a baby that resulted from rape. Any normal person would feel some kind of way about it! So, the absence of that is glaring, and weird, and it makes Fern feel less like a real person. Max is wow. Lols. I have no words. He is by far one of my favourite book boyfriends. He's sexy, powerful, dangerous. Sweet, romantic, and a listener/compromises. Well, as long as you're Cassidy."" - Author Miranda Grant. Chapter 31 "Were you ever going to tell me that you love me, Max?" He smiles softly. "If I don't will you still know?" " Yes." 😭

One trope I can’t stand and avoid at all costs is the pregnancy trope. The pregnancy usually takes over the storyline, and the lovers seems to lose themselves and their spark and what makes them “them”, but I pushed through and I’m glad I did. The author made sure the characters stayed true to themselves throughout the whole story, and ya know what? I didn’t mind the pregnancy one bit! In fact, it added to the story in such a good way, and I wouldn’t change a thing! I also didn't realize this was a duet, so there is a cliffy. But with everything that happened and just how disconnected I was from the characters, I'm not sure if I'll read the conclusion. Our Thing & Cosa Nostra Duet is a Grumpy Sunshine Australian Mafia Romance that took my heart on this deliciously suspenseful and steamy journey of the epic love story that is the Sweet Ballerina Girl and her Butcher Boy Menace and hooked me on from beginning to end and I just could not get enough! The first is to be the youngest leading ballerina in her academy. She will need unwavering dedication. No time for men. Unfortunately, her heart didn't get the memo, because her second secret want. . . is Max Butcher. This group is a safe environment, where readers can find awesome new books to obsess over while gaining deeper insight into the creation of their favorite stories. Writers can share their craft, brainstorm and collaborate with peers. Indie Authors are showcased. All writers can find inspiration and camaraderie amongst an audience that understands their profession. Bloggers and Editors can network and discover new reads. The book ends on such a tension, sad cliffhanger. I cannot wait to see what's going to happen next. All in all, this was a fantastic story about love and the dangers of getting mixed up in the wrong crowd. I wish the book had a little different ending, since there was so much missed, but otherwise it was an absolutely incredible story. Book triggers include a graphic rape scene and a pregnancy as a result of that rape. It also has a miscarriage ⚠️ There’s a couple of twists, one I saw coming and one I didn’t. And that one ruined me. Like snot dribbling, ugly crying got me. And that friggin’ letter. I WAS A MESS!!!

Max is the until alpha-hole - tall, dark, and hot as hell. He and his brothers are known as bad news around town, but when Cassidy catches Max’s attention, it’s all she can do to remain en pointe. As for Max, well, he makes no secret about the fact that he doesn’t do monogamy. But the more he sees (or even thinks about) Cassidy with anyone else, the more Max starts re-evaluating his priorities.I won’t ignore the fact that I wasn’t a fan of Cassidy, even though I get why she was the way she was. But what I will say is by the end of both books I felt every emotion with her. And because of Nicci’s superb writing, I got her, I got every annoying, naive, vulnerable, needy piece of her and I wholeheartedly changed my opinion of her. once they are together, they don’t break up - he doesn’t leave her to protect her or anything like that OW drama - the H isn’t quite ready to commit to the h at first and he’s up front about that. The h sees him with a couple different women. It’s unclear if he has relations with them. But once he commits, and he does pretty early, he’s all in. She does find him with a naked woman after a bachelor party, before they’ve committed, but after they’re pretty emotionally and physically invested, and he swears he didn’t have sex with her. He claims that the night proved to him that he could be monogamous and he commits to the h from that point on… the h is on the fence about whether or not she believes him, but decides what matters is what he does from that point on. 😬🤷🏼‍♀️ Anyway, onto the story: Clay is 35, newly the head of the local mafia, and the mayor of the District (the fictional Australian city where these books are set). He’s married, but for arranged mafia reasons, he and his wife don’t have a sexual relationship. I actually love this part of the book - since his wife isn’t an evil OW who’s an obstacle to his relationship with the heroine. She wants good things for him and supports it! I want Aurora to live her best lesbian life, and be a mafia queen.
