About this deal

What customers are saying: One customer said that they "can't live without these pants! [I] love the buttery soft feel," while another customer said, "these pants are magical, [with an] incredibly soft material that holds its shape and is super flattering!" Another strong pro about these leggings was the length. While the previous options leaned on the shorter side, these ones fit perfectly on our five-foot-nine bodies. As tall people, it’s difficult to find flared leggings that don’t meet your heels, but these do. That does mean that they’re a bit long on our shorter ladies, so keep that in mind while you shop. These leggings remained super soft, flexible, and comfortable throughout multiple wears and washes. They're completely opaque despite the ultra-thin nylon and elastane blend. We give this pair high points for style thanks to the versatile crossover waistband, which can be pulled up for a more high-waisted look or scrunched down to wear as a low-rise, opening doors to an array of fun ways to style them. Plus, they come in short and long options, ensuring they'll be just the right length for your height. Compared to other plus-size leggings we’ve tried, this one was much more dense, but it still felt soft. The waistband hugged our bellies, while the fabric also supported our thighs. We did notice, however, that because of the high level of support, they did restrict some of the bigger movements, like running or jumping. The leggings felt a bit stiff in these moments, and even caused some friction in the inner thigh. We preferred wearing them as a lounge piece, working from home, or running errands around the neighborhood. We also noticed that for anyone taller than five foot four, these leggings fall a bit short around the ankles. At a 30-inch flared inseam, these are definitely intended for shorter ladies. Why we love it: If you're in the market for a pair of high-quality workout pants that will be good to you and good for the environment, these are the pants to invest in. Plus, they're on sale right now!

What's worth noting: They are a little long, so be aware if you're petite, but the brand does have complimentary hemming, and if you're tall, these are the pants for you. Whether you're working out or hanging out, no piece of clothing is quite as versatile as a humble pair of leggings. They're stretchy, they're simple, and they're soft—what's not to love?? But while most leggings have a horizontal waistband that can dig into your tummy, you'll find that crossover leggings are becoming increasingly popular and for a good reason: They're more functional and more flattering than pairs with a boring ol' straight waistband. Wondering why those Aerie crossover leggings you've seen all over TikTok keep selling out? Pls allow us to explain what makes V-waist leggings so damn great. Why We Liked It: These high-wasted flares are ultra-flattering and earn top marks across all categories, from fit to performance, quality, and opacity. What We Love: They are opaque and stretchy, allowing us to engage in our full range of motion comfortably. Amazingly enough, the same superior level of softness remained even after washing and drying – and we did not use the delicate cycle or any other precautions. We threw these in the machine, right with all our other clothes, and it did not disturb the fabric one bit. The color never faded. The material didn’t depreciate, and everything was as good as new. Length: Most flare leggings we tested were only available in one inseam. For shorter or taller wearers, we recommend opting for a style with different inseams like the following pairs:

These pants come very high-waisted, which we personally loved. They provide good tummy control, and never bunched up or pinched us anywhere. That being said, it might be almost too high-waisted for people with short torsos. What customers say: One customer noted, "They're what I wish yoga pants WERE in 2008!" We wholeheartedly agree. Whether you're new to the flared legging trend or already love it and want to find new ways to style them, having some expert guidance can help make shopping easier (and more fun!). Nichelle Mesa, customer experience manager at Girlfriend Collective, shares her insights on finding your next flare. What customers are saying: One customer says that these leggings are, "way better than I could have imagined, [with] quality fabric [and] great cut and design. Also perfect full length."

Why we love them: These are flared leggings that aren't super flared. They flatter the butt and feel really comfortable on, and we love that there are so many sizes and lengths available. What's worth noting: These are not the most flared pants of the bunch, so if you're looking for something a bit more exaggerated, these may not be the pants for you. On the other hand, if you’re looking for flared pants more for style points and lounging reasons, then something softer in fabric and stretchier would be the way to go. These can be made with a combination of nylon, polyester, and elastane. The Beyond Yoga Spacedye All Day Flare High Waisted Pant, Beyond Yoga Make the Cut Pants, and OFFLINE By Aerie Real Me High Waisted Crossover Flare Legging oozed comfort and style. Length We found these flares to hold their shape and fit over multiple wears, washes, and workouts. The snug fit stays in place without riding up or bunching. Personally, we think cellulite is totally natural and nothing to be ashamed of, but we realize it may make some people self-conscious. We found that the tight fit may show cellulite outlines on some bodies. We give these pants top marks for comfort. The silky smooth fabric is soft without being too sheer, providing support in all the right places.

Lastly, do a deep squat in your leggings to determine opacity. "You don't want to see the seams [or color] of your underwear," says Mesa. While squatting, take note of whether or not the waistband stays in place. Why we love it: We like these pants because not only are they super affordable, they're also more of a straight leg, as opposed to a true flare, so they're nice to try out to get a feel for the look. What We Love: The quality of the pants feel substantial, allowing us to stretch and bend comfortably while remaining completely opaque. Once they arrive, Mesa recommends putting them through a series of tests to determine whether or not they're the right fit. She recommends putting them on and walking around to get a feel for how the leggings fit and sitting down to see whether or not the top of the waistband rolls down or moves around too much. "You don't want to have to readjust it every time you move," says Mesa. If you plan to wear leggings for lounging, this is also a good test to see if they pinch or cause discomfort while sitting. On top of all of this, the pants were completely opaque. No amount of squatting or holding up against the sun revealed what was underneath. That being said, because of the tightness of the material, we noticed our cellulite peeking through ever so slightly on the thighs and booty. We weren’t bothered by this, but it’s worth mentioning if it’s of your concern. It’s also on the longer side, so people under five foot six might experience some bunching at the hem.

The last thing you want is to give everyone a free show while doing downward dog. Opacity was one of the most important aspects we paid attention to when testing our flared leggings, and we’re happy to report that every single one of the mentioned options passed our squat test. From the Copyleaf Flare Yogo Pants to the Uniqlo AIRism Soft Flare Leggings, you won’t be able to see any skin or underwear through the leggings. We didn’t expect to be as blown away by these Lululemon leggings as we were. We found ourselves basically unwilling to take these leggings off for nearly everything — the buttery soft, split-flare leggings accompanied us to the gym, the grocery store, to see friends, to dance, and to lounge around the house. We almost debated sleeping in them, but in the end, we felt we were taking it a bit too far and decided against it (but we still think you could).

Before purchasing a new pair of flared leggings, we recommend keeping the following considerations in mind: What We Don’t Love: The material is quite thin, so it’s not the most supportive option for the gym.
