About this deal

The Club seems to be receiving fairly positive hype, so you might just take my review and opinions with a grain of salt and give this one a shot. Everything being said, I'm still cautiously a fan of Ellery Lloyd, and may give their third novel a read before I make a final decision on them.

After a few dates with men she meets online, Sharon decides that the scene is not for her. She then gives a speech at her son's joint engagement party with her ex-husband, where she realizes that everyone deserves to be in love and happy. She opens her online dating account again, in the hopes of finding someone. As tempers fray and behavior worsens, as things get more sinister by the hour and the body count piles up, some of Island Home’s members will begin to wish they’d never made the guest list. Though this book club is ideal for introverts, that’s not to say it isn’t social. Silent Book Club is all about community. They think it’s important to put down our phones and be “real, live, breathing-the-same-air social”. Sure, nobody’s forcing you to make small talk over a glass of wine, but you can sit with a book and a friend in a cafe, and if you want to chat about what you’re reading — go for it!

Hodderhose, Diana (May 4, 2017). "Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda & Candice Bergen Joining 'Book Club' — Cannes". Deadline Hollywood. Penske Business Media . Retrieved May 15, 2018. This was quite an entertaining read for me. The characters were very interesting, their different motives were fascinating. The atmosphere and the setting both were superb. The pacing is the only downside of the story. I think the authors (Husband & Wife) did a pretty good job. Despite this age of isolation, the New York Public Library has been strengthening its community of readers since April 2020, when it teamed up with US radio station WNYC to launch its online book club. Sometimes, the price point of popular new-releases (often the fodder of book clubs) can put off readers who would otherwise love to join. But all the chosen books for this virtual book club can be read for free through NYPL’s e-reader app, which makes it easy to read any eBook in your library’s collection. Home is a luxurious club only for the rich and famous. Run by Ned Groom, The Home Group has celebrity clubs all over the globe, London, Lisbon, Malibu, Manhattan, Paris, Shanghai, Venice, and Cannes. The Home Group is launching its newest and most spectacular Home yet on an island off the English coast. The new opening launch party is the most coveted A-list party of the year. Small talk? No, thanks. Homework? Pass. Silent Book Club is all about enjoying books, company, and beverages — without having to think of something smart to say. Founded in 2012 by a couple of friends who liked to read in companionable silence, Silent Book Club now has over 240 “chapters” (that’s a group) who gather across 30+ countries to read together in silence.

If you’re looking for the benefits of a popular online book club, as well as the intimacy of a local group to join with all your friends, then search no further than the Poppy Loves Book Club. Run by Eva of Poppy Loves London, this women-only club serves as an umbrella community, joining together hundreds of local book clubs from all corners of the world. I liked Lloyd's previous book, People Like Her fairly well. It was a dark voyeuristic look at the underbelly of social media stardom. This book, on the other hand, tries to do the same with celebrities, but really doesn't even come close to making any sort of a point.

But behind the scenes, tensions are at breaking point: the ambitious and expensive project has pushed the Home Group's CEO and his long-suffering team to their absolute limits. All of them have something to hide—and that's before the beautiful people with their own ugly secrets even set foot on the island. Our Shared Shelf was founded in 2016 by actor Emma Watson as part of her work with UN women. The online book club focused on intersectional feminist literature, including must-read books like The Handmaid’s Tale and powerful memoirs like The Beauty Myth by Naomi Wolf.
