While the Akai has 8 pads, the Novation boasts 16, which unlike the Akai can be midi mapped to whatever colour you wish. Saying that though, they are significantly smaller and from our experience don’t quite have the sensitivity of the Akai. For casual use the Launchkey is works well, but for keen finger drummers it’s the Akai all the way! As a mini device, theAkaiMPK Mini MK2doesn’t require much power. It draws everything it needs from its USB connection to your computer. It supports plug-and-play connectivity, features USB-MIDI, and powers up with a single USB connection to The MPC Beats Installer will automatically open. Follow the onscreen prompts to complete the installation.

The Novation Launchkey Mini Mk3 is a small but perfectly formed MIDI controller that works great with or without Ableton Live. then store them on your MPK mini.
