About this deal

The Autoterm Planar Deisel Air Heaters are manufactured by the Latvian Manufacturer ADVERS and in Europe they are distributed through Autoterm. All of our products then come through their UK distributor Planar Heaters UK. These should not be confused with some of the Chinese imports you may see that are using the generic Planar name.

Buying a diesel night heater for campervan use in the UK can be a hard decision with such a wide range of options and prices. This model also comes with a silencer which makes the heater that much quieter. There is however, some noise from the pump whilst the heater is running. Separate silencers are available to buy if required.

If you are planning to travel at altitudes of 2000m or more, consider upgrading this model with the high altitude ready kit. If you’re planning to travel to higher altitudes of 3000m plus I would recommend choosing the AT EVO 40, again with the high altitude ready kit. A diesel heater is an instantaneous heating system for the interior of cars, boats, sheds, and other closed-off areas. It brings air in through an exterior intake pipe, mixing it with diesel fuel and lighting it on fire in the combustion compartment. A heat exchanger's huge surface area is heated during this operation. Most modern vans have a pressured fuel system. Do not attempt to just plumb straight into a fuel line using a 'T' piece. Fuel must come directly from the fuel tank using the standpipe supplied. Features Volatile technology, by the ceramic ignition plug will fuel heating evaporated into gas, fast ignition, full combustion.

This crucial safety element ensures the occupants' safety, which aids in preventing carbon monoxide poisoning. The diesel heater delivers immediate warmth and is simple to operate to maintain the optimum cabin temperature. The capacity of the PLANAR 2D air heater is between 0.8 kW and 2 kW, and it is capable of heating up 75 m3 of air hourly. It maintains excellent economy and uses between 0.1 litres and 0.24 litres of diesel per hour. Noise levels are therefore not an issue at all with the 2Kw heaters at low. And at low it is heating my caravan beautifully. I have had to turn it off once due to it getting too hot in here once, the sun was out and heating the van up. Most camper diesel heaters are extremely efficient using between 0.1 and 0.6 litres of diesel per hour. The figures are similar for budget and premium models. Noise If you’re looking for a heater with a warranty and longevity, opt for the more premium models. Budget heaters use cheaper materials which are more likely to fail over the shorter term and warranties are non-existent. Fuel efficiencyIt doesn’t have a thermostat, rather it has different heat settings which can be adjusted on the digital control panel or via the remote control. There is also the option to set a timer – instant heat from the comfort of your van bed! Different kits have different accessories. For example, some kits include a T-piece (steering tuyere), which means you can change your single-vent heater to a 3-vent one. And if you have a little baby, you can opt for a kit with double mufflers, to minimize the noise possible. Diesel heaters for campers that are correctly installed pump all waste fumes outside of your van (much like combustion fumes from your vans engine). They usually come with a safety cut off mechanism to prevent them from overheating and diesel fuel is harder to ignite than petrol. These factors combined make diesel heaters very safe to use and run throughout the night. If you have a bigger campervan, such as a Mercedes Sprinter or a Renault Master (like I have), opt for a 5KW heater or bigger. Rob and Mike both have one of these in their vans as they make a huge difference to family comfort when camping or even just having a day by the beach! These now come with the addition of an exhaust silencer and a combustion air silencer to further reduce noise.

Moving it is possible but is a future project and I didn't want to do it just now. So. I installed it under my bed as that is the easiest place to get to. Right at the head of the bed. These diesel heaters are rated at 2kw or 4kw and would be perfect for heating most medium to large sized vans. They can be installed in various positions inside or under the vehicle, and there are some options regarding the placement of the outlets and the controllers. According to different assembly methods and appearance, the diesel air heater can be divided into two types: All-in-one Diesel Heater and Split Diesel Heater. My calculations are that if you can get red diesel then the cost of running a 2KW diesel heater is a quarter of the price to a third of the price of gas bottles and probably half the cost of LPG.Now I have my industrial unit I could strip stuff down and had places to store all the crap while I did the work and it wasn't so much of a hassle to do. Low electrical power consumption – heaters require a surge in power to get going but once up and running use very little electricity (around 0.5 to 1 amps once running). Diesel heaters are therefore low wattage heaters for camper vans. Remember to consider the small surge required by a heater when calculating your solar energy costs. The answer is usually yes, but make sure to read the manufacturer's directions for compatibility and specific instructions. The MV Airo includes an upgraded control switch, offering more flexibility than those supplied with other makes of diesel heater. It can work either as a thermostat (so it switches off when a temperature is reached) or to set a constant heat output from 0.9 to 2kw (so it works constantly at an appropriate output, and does not cut in and out through the night).

The heaters suggested in this guide all run on 12v systems so can easily be connected to your leisure battery. After the initial surge, this draw of energy will be around 1 amp per hour. Why use a diesel heater? To manage the build up of carbon soot in the heater is recommend to use to the heater as per the manufacturers recommendations. For example, avoid running the heater for less than 10-15 minutes at a time and periodically give the heater a blast by running it at its highest for 10 minutes. Running the heater at high altitudes will also cause excessive build up so sure to give the heater those blasts more often. Related Reading Usually I wouldn’t recommend cheap brands nobody has ever heard of for something as important as a campervan heater. For example, my top recommendations for campervan fridges, leisure batteries and solar panels are all by reputable brands, since most of the time you get what you pay for.Noise pollution – all diesel heaters will create some noise whilst running, particularly during the start up cycle. The noise is worse from outside the van than from inside it. A diesel heater's estimated lifespan varies, typically between five and fifteen years, based on usage, upkeep, and brand reputation.
