About this deal

My tests have shown you get about 20% – 30% of the peel strength on PVA’s with epoxy. This may be enough to exceed the PVA’s grip on the substrate in some situations, particularly dense softwoods. In these cases, you’d be safe and I’m not sure what you’re using this combination on, but my applications tend to be dynamic and often highly loaded, so I have to shy away from this bond scenario. In fact, I don’t use PVA’s at all on structural elements, mostly because of creep. Cyanoacrylates (CA) have traditionally been called super glues for their adhesion properties to a wide range of different materials and their effectiveness for unique applications. The Titebond Instant range of CA adhesives covers many different applications; the viscosity and setting times vary according to the chosen product. Titebond 2’s minimum application temperature is 55F, whereas Titebond 3 can be applied to a material at 47F or higher temperatures

To assure a good bond, 55°F is the lowest recommended temperature of the glue, air and materials during application. Also noted above, where you could theoretically run into trouble is sustained higher temperature applications. On the FWW webiste, they report at 150 degrees: As to numbers, tension, compression, elongation and other modulus figures, well they’re application dependent, but typically show the relatively weak interface, though (again) if this is better then the PVA attributes in the specific application – a moot point. Even though the manufacturer claims that the glue’s open time (the time it takes for the glue to set) is between 3 and 5 minutes, it may take much longer until the adhesive joins two elements firmly depending on the room temperature and moisture of the material.

On a note, Titebond 3 works in an open assembly time of 10 minutes and in a total assembly time of 20 to 25 minutes. Set Time For Titebond 3 Titebond 2 is as strong as any wood to assure a good glue bond. However, all boards should be machined 90 degrees from the edge to the face. And in entire length, it should take very little pressure, which can be done on a table saw, jointer, or even a router. The standard includes product performance requirements and environmental and health requirements such as reduced toxicity, hazardous ingredients, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Bond strength ASTM D905 (on hard maple)

As mentioned before, Titebond 2 and Titebond 3 are water-resistant glues. To be more particular, Titebond 2 is more resistant against water, being waterproof every time. Especially for those projects which remain exposed to light water, it will suffice with Titebond 2. Such as outdoor furniture, cutting boards, etc. On the other hand, Titebond 3 performs well for projects that are exposed to ambient moistures. Titebond Open Time Besides outdoor projects, this wood glue can be utilized on kitchen renovation or bathroom improvement ideas because of its ability to keep wooden elements together despite moderate water exposure. This product has similar properties to Pearl Glue, but in liquid form it is ready to use. It forms an excellent strong bond with the timber and its slow setting properties allow time for precise assembly. Like Pearl Glue it can be reversed by the application of gentle heat, making it excellent glue for use in furniture repair or small veneering jobs. Due to the unique properties of this glue, we suggest purchasing the required amount for the job in hand, rather than storing for long periods of time. Once opened, must be used. Good for indoor and limited outdoor use. Because of its water-resistance capability, Titebond 2 is suitable for outdoor projects such as mailboxes, birdhouses, picnic tables, and indoor projects in rooms that see occasional damp conditions, such as vanities and cupboards in the bathroom. It is ideal for interior or exterior woodworking projects such as outdoor furniture, planters, tables and chairs to name just a few!Just like its name, Titebond Extend takes an extended time to work. Anyways, to build up a strong bond, Titebond Extend work flawlessly after working for 24 hours. How Long Does Titebond 3 Take To Dry? So if your setup is in a humid place (The tropics, Florida, Louisiana, or parts of Texas — basically, the Gulf Coast area), then you will likely have far more effectiveness with TB3. Titebond Original has many of the same features as Titebond 2. It is a superb product and can be used for any indoor project that is not susceptible to water splash or moisture. It is only slightly lower than Titebond 2 in bond strength. All wood glues produced by the Titebond brand can create high-strength connections between softwood and hardwood materials. Unlike the Titebond Original Glue, the Titebond II Premium and Titebond III Ultimate are designed for indoor and outdoor use. You just need a wet cloth to remove this wood glue from a surface, while sanding the glue after it hardens shouldn’t be too difficult. Reliability

It performs equally well in indoor and outdoor conditions which makes it an attractive option for woodworkers who often work on different types of projects. Hopefully, you got to transpire a nice idea about Titebond 2 Vs Titebond 3 from the above. Similarly, if you see, the difference between titebond glues is not too huge in terms of quality. But yes, each of their set time, drying time, opening time vary a little bit. However, I have noticed no particular problem in using this, as my workshop tends to run the humidity range of 12 percent to as much as 60 percent within any given week. (I do laundry within reach of my workbench.) And, given my area’s range of weather (August typically runs 65 percent or more humidity, while May and February run higher but tend to “dump” humidity as precipitation), I can honestly say I’m glad to have gotten this particular glue. While I appreciate TB3’s ability to “shrug off” more moisture, the projects I have attempted have not required the increased capabilities of it. Yet. It is unaffected by surface finishes. This means that the glue will not break down due to the chemical composition of any finishes that you may paint over it. Well, Titebond II and Titebond III are almost the same. If Titebond 2 is water-resistant, Titebond 3 is also like that but more water-resistant. Although these two types of glue differ in price, their performances are not so different from each other. Therefore, you will hardly see any hindrances while mixing Titebond 2 and Titebond 3. Which Is Stronger Titebond 2 Or 3?
