In 1995, in Des Moines, Iowa, werd één van de grootste nu-metal bands aller tijden opgericht: Slipknot. Negen persoonlijkheden, negen maskers en negen verhalen hebben de geschiedenis van Slipknot gevormd. Slipknot’s masks are the band’s signature, switching up with each album cycle and ranging from the disturbing to the tongue-in-cheek humorous. The idea for the masks came from the first Slipknot rehearsal when percussionist Shawn Crahan showed up wearing a clown mask. Everyone liked the idea and it prompted the band to focus on the music and the message.

With the 2008 album ALL HOPE IS GONE is way softer, the follower turns it all to the limit. It was released 6 years later, because the band had to cope with the loss of Slipknot member & bassist Paul Gray. He died in May 2010 from an overdose. The band, after coming to terms with the death of their friend, decided to return to their roots. It can be heard on 2014’s .5: THE GRAY CHAPTER and 2019’s WE ARE NOT YOUR KIND. New Slipknot Album "The End, So Far"For the first time, quieter songs like "Circle" or "Vermilion Pt. 2" have also made it onto the album. I’m trying to be pragmatic but the best way to make God laugh is to announce your plans out loud. They tried out quite a few people and I think I was the closest of all of them. I had three tryouts with them. I think that band had more issues than just them parting ways with Scott [Weiland]. A lot of those guys have been together since the early 90s: sometimes they’re just going to want to do their own things. I don’t feel guilty about anything I listen to. Why would you feel guilty about something you enjoy? Unless it’s illegal and gross [laughs].
