About this deal

Snowdonia National Park- this requires at least 3 days to do it justice, but if nothing else be sure to visit Mt Snowdon- Wales’ highest peak. You can take a trip on the Snowdon Mountain Railway or choose a walking trail and explore the region. ACC Travis has since said he believes response times will not be affected - and the roads being slower will in fact make it easier for emergency services to make progress. If you have time before you start your Brecon Beacons National Park road trip, be sure to visit the capital city of Cardiff, Castell Coch, Cardiff Castle and nearby Barry Island.

For more information on the 20mph National Implementation please visit: Introducing 20mph speed limits: frequently asked questions | GOV.WALES Since Anglesey is pretty small, a road trip shouldn’t take too long! It could easily be done in 1-2 days (especially if you’re not a big hiking fan). Of course, you could slow down and take a few days to see all this island has to offer. Does it cost money to get to Anglesey if it’s an island? Wales is home to some of the UK’s most beautiful drives. Beyond the more densely populated south (where you’ll find the Wales' only highway), narrow, undulating lanes criss-cross the land, meaning travel can be slow – but there’s no need to rush when your surroundings consist of sky-skimming mountains, deep green valleys and swaths of pristine coastline. Around 50,000 people signed an online petition saying 20mph limits were “causing chaos” and “doing nothing to reduce emissions”.Worm’s Head is a good starting point; a bizarre tidal island on the southwest tip of the peninsula in Rhossili Bay. This is one of the Gower’s most famous attractions- although it’s not entirely clear why! The Mumbles is where we spent our very first night ‘off-grid’ in our motorhome in late spring. DEFINITELY worth a visit. From Abergavenny, turn off the A465 at Llanvihangel Crucorney and follow signs for the ruins of Llanthony Priory. From Hay-on-Wye, the Gospel pass is sign-posted.

Visit a lighthouse— dotted all across the coastline of Anglesey, you’ll find a number of beautiful lighthouses. You can even enjoy an overnight stay in one! The "Pegman" symbol offers the switch to Google's street view, the 360-degree, panoramic street-level imagery. Wales is regarded as the land of castles with the country having the most number of castles per square mile versus anywhere else in the world. To enjoy street views, grab pegman with your cursor and hoover over the map, when street view is available parts of the map will change to blue, drop pegman there and you might have a lot of fun within unimaginable boring landscapes.

Head northeast to Cardigan and then make a beeline for inland treasures including Brecon Beacons National Park, where you can summit South Wales’ highest mountain, Pen y Fan; foodie town Abergavenny; and the crumbled ruins of Tintern Abbey near Chepstow. The country occupies an area of 20,779 km², it's about the size of Slovenia, or slightly smaller than the U.S. state of New Jersey. While Police and Fire and Rescue services will be helping to enforce the new changes, as well as educating.

That is why we are publishing this document, not as the final word, but as part of the continuing conversation. The new legislation is not a blanket speed limit on all roads, it simply changes the default speed limit on restricted roads from 30mph to 20mph. Highway authorities, who know their area best, engaged with their local communities to decide which roads should remain at 30mph. Exceptions to 20mph default speed limits Yes, Wales does NOT have its own currency. They use pound sterling, just like the rest of the UK. Do they drive on the left or the right?

When the Senedd voted in favour in July 2022, Wales became the first UK nation to pass legislation to lower the default national speed limit on residential roads and busy pedestrian streets from 30mph to 20mph. The new speed limit came into force on Sunday 17 September 2023. Head west through the uncrowded Clwydian Hills – stopping to summit Moel Famau (1820ft) on the way for epic views of Snowdonia and the North Wales Coast – until you reach Ruthin, a little town brimming with history (exemplified by its restored castle, century-spanning museum and Victorian Ruthin Gaol). One of the reasons we love Wales so much is all the outdoor activities it offers. For that reason, we recommend visiting Wales anytime between Easter and mid-October, to really take advantage of the highlights. A government report has said reducing the speed limit on Welsh roads to 20mph will have minimal impact on journey times, though the Welsh Government's own analysis has said there could be an impact on the economy.

The final place to visit in Pembrokeshire is St David’s. This is the smallest city in the UK but is a great place to visit. Don’t miss the beautiful cathedral and small winding streets- as well as one of the best pasty shops we’ve ever found! How long should you plan for a Pembrokeshire road trip? The restrictions presently in place are there for the express purpose of protecting people’s health and controlling the spread of coronavirus. The law in Wales makes it clear that these restrictions can only be kept in place for as long as they are necessary. The coastal town of Aberystwyth- an ancient market town and home of the National Library of Wales. If you have time, detour inland and visit the visitor centre of Elan Valley. Education in Wales is different from the rest of the United Kingdom due to the use and study of the local Welsh language. Welsh medium education is available to all age groups in the country, from nurseries to schools, colleges, and universities. The towns of Tenby, Aberystwyth, Cardigan, and the city of Brecon are some of the most popular holiday destinations in the country. Tenby is famous for being a walled seaside town with its medieval town walls and 2.5km of sandy beaches, while Aberystwyth is a major tourist center with a bustling art scene and unspoilt nature reserves. Cardigan is the most popular place for a sense of timelessness with its past meets present vibe, and Brecon is a tourist favorite for its narrow streets and passageways of Georgian and Jacobean shop fronts and being a popular holiday destination. Education The problem with doing this is you will miss some beautiful places- after all, part of the joy of a road trip is getting out and experiencing the place you’ve just driven to. Tenby is one of the small seaside towns in Pembrokeshire and has beautiful golden beaches. In the summer months you can take a short boat ride to the monastic island of Caldey Island. This is the perfect escape and you can walk to the lighthouse as well as try the chocolate made by the monks. Swansea is another popular city to visit in Wales, being the first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the UK. The city boasts of award-winning beaches, unspoilt countryside, and the best locations for a number of outdoor activities such as cycling and a vast number of watersports.
