About this deal

The songs were so catchy that after the show children could be heard singing them on the way out – a sign the show was a success. All the actors excelled with each one striking a perfect chord between comedic timing and a serious tone when matters of the environment were brought to the forefront. And a simple but effective stage design allowed the actors to move freely and helped the audience to use their own imagination when needed. An engagement programme delivered by The Sill: National Landscape Discovery Centre will run alongside the exhibition, including creative workshops, Ranger activities, walks and talks, and a learning and education programme. Something special happened in my mind and heart when he read out his spells. It was hearing the combination of the beauty of wildlife and the lyricism or melody of each word, that set my mind on fire in a sense! That's when I knew my first Robert Macfarlane book had to be the lost spells!

The Guardian ★★★★ The Stage ★★★★★ Musical Theatre Review ★★★★★ Theatre Weekly ★★★★ Fairy Powered Productions ★★★★ Broadway World A leaf of grass is no less than the journey work of the stars,” the young Walt Whitman sang in one of the finest poems from his Song of Myself— the aria of a self that seemed to him then, as it always seems to the young, infinite and invincible. But when a paralytic stroke felled him decades later, unpeeling his creaturely limits and his temporality, he leaned on the selfsame reverence of nature as he considered what makes life worth living: A scroll containing instructions on how to use the Lost Spell called Surge. The spell description reads: "Surge - Hold to release a large, constant stream of your magic, dealing repeated damage at medium range". It is a collection to share and reflect upon. So, gather round, cherish the songs, Macfarlane’s words and Morris’s imagery and steep yourself deep in the natural world that surrounds us and prepare to be spellbound”

The front of each card bears one of Morris's Greenaway Medal-winning paintings; on the reverse, you will find an accompanying quotation from one of the spell-poems in the Lost books, as well as identification of the species shown on the card. The remaining space is left blank for you to fill in these wild cards with pen, pencil or paint– and then send them out into the world to make and renew connections.

The audience was always reminded that humans, animals and nature were all connected – the true meaning behind the show. It has a 1/60 (1.6%) chance to drop from a Chest, Bronze Sealed Chest, Lost Cargo, or Dark Sealed Chest Diese kleinen Kunstwerke sollen helfen, die Natur besser zu verstehen, sie deutlicher zu sehen und ihr mehr zuzuhören. Teachers were inspired to draw up free teaching resources for The Lost Words and Morris said one of her favourite stories came from a school where children in an “eco club” used to hide their badges, but since reading the book had worn them with pride. “I guess it gave them courage to believe and to love the wild,” said Morris.

Educated at Nottingham High School, Pembroke College, Cambridge and Magdalen College, Oxford, he is currently a Fellow of Emmanuel College, Cambridge, and teaches in the Faculty of English at Cambridge. A series of spoken word pieces, wild nature calls and acoustic music created by musicians from the Spell Songs ensemble – the musical evolution of The Lost Words and The Lost Spells books – will create an ambient soundscape which invites audiences to listen to what nature is telling us. A glorious blend of music and pictures celebrating British wildlife with all kinds of fantastic folk players involved.” Nature is so big and spectacular and deeply magical and The Lost Words delivered that to children in a way that’s not magic dust and wands,” she said. “So much educational material for children is a bit boring or dumbed-down and this just gave them permission for their imaginations to run wild.”

Javelin sends a spear shaped object flying at high speeds. If it hits the ground or a player then it will start pulsating high amounts of damage.

Meet a Cinders like no other at Northern Stage

The Lost Spells is a celebration of the natural; it is a collection of prose poetry about foxes and trees and birds and rabbits and flowers: it is an elegy to what we are losing and what we must try to retain. The album was inspired byand became the musical companion piece to, the bestselling, prize-winning, and much-loved book The Lost Words, and the Spell Songs ensemble went on to perform sell out concerts at iconic venues aroudn the UK. Praise for The Lost Words: Spell Songs A fun, wild and boisterous adventure full of paw-tapping music and dancing, played live on-stage by talented actor-musicians, The Lost Spells is a riot of colour and a new Alice in Wonderland, celebrating the magic, power and wonder of nature that could be just outside your window. Asked whether there was an environmental message in The Lost Spells, Morris said: “It’s a celebration of the nearby wild. If there is a message there, it is simply wonder and awe at the beautiful complexity of the non-human. And respect, for the wisdom of trees, the shape of a bird, the wild of the fox.”

The exhibition will also feature a recording of a song by vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and producer, Cosmo Sheldrake. Children will be able to write their own spell-poems before speaking them into the wind, dress-up as wildlife, and take part in arts and crafts based activities led by Northumberland National Park Rangers. There will also be a range of self-led walks for people to explore the National Park’s landscape. Complement The Lost Spells, to the lushness of which no screen does justice, with naturalist Sy Montgomery’s poetic memoir of what thirteen animals taught her about being a good creature, then revisit Macfarlane’s enchanting narrative journey into the hidden universe below the world we walk and Morris’s enchanting pictorial journey into the hidden universe beyond the waking world. Casting style - Purely cosmetic, changes the casting animation when using the spell. Only has two unique options: Right and Left Javelin Throw. The love of and for nature that Macfarlane and Morris are feeling is palpable - and infectuous. I also found myself learning the odd thing or two while reading their books. After you have exhausted what there is in business, politics, conviviality, love, and so on — have found that none of these finally satisfy, or permanently wear — what remains? Nature remains; to bring out from their torpid recesses, the affinities of a man or woman with the open air, the trees, fields, the changes of seasons — the sun by day and the stars of heaven by night.
