About this deal

Liver damage is possible in adults who have taken 10 g or more of paracetamol. Ingestion of 5 g or more of paracetamol may lead to liver damage if the patient has risk factors (see below). Expectorants such as guaifenesin are used to treat a productive, chesty or mucus cough, where you cough up phlegm. Guaifenesin helps to thin and loosen the mucus in the airways, making it easier to cough up. Paracetamol is excreted in breast milk, but not in a clinically significant amount. Available published data do not contraindicate breastfeeding. You have Raynaud’s syndrome (poor blood circulation which makes the fingers or toes pale and numb), or diabetes mellitus Phenylephrine overdose is likely to result in: nervousness, headache, dizziness, insomnia, increased blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, reflex bradycardia, mydriasis, acute angle closure glaucoma (most likely to occur in those with closed angle glaucoma), tachycardia, palpitations, allergic reactions (e.g. rash, urticaria and allergic dermatitis), dysuria and urinary retention (most likely to occur in those with bladder outlet obstruction, such as prostatic hypertrophy).

Allergic reactions such as a rash or itching. Stop using this medicine and get medical advice if you think you've had an allergic reaction to it. Zimmerman HJ, Maddrey WC. Acetaminophen (paracetamol) hepatotoxicity with regular intake of alcohol: analysis of instances of therapeutic misadventure. Hepatology. 1995;22:767-73. Patients with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrase-isomaltase insufficiency should not take this medicine.

The speed of absorption of paracetamol may be increased by metoclopramide or domperidone and absorption reduced by cholestyramine. The anticoagulant effect of warfarin and other coumarins may be enhanced by prolonged regular daily use of paracetamol with increased risk of bleeding; occasional doses have no significant effect. The product should be avoided during lactation unless recommended by a healthcare professional. There are limited data on the use of phenylephrine in lactation. The antidiabetic medicines exenatide, lixisenatideand liraglutidemay slow down the absorption of paracetamol into the bloodstream, so it might take longer to work if you're using one of these medicines to treat your diabetes. Ask your pharmacist for more advice.

This product contains 129.0mg (5.6mmol) sodium per dose – to be taken into consideration for patients on a controlled sodium diet. Do not take more than the recommended dose. You should also avoid taking more than one paracetamol-containing medicine at the same time, as this can easily result in exceeding the maximum dose of paracetamol. Wong V, Daly M, Boon A, Heatley V. Paracetamol and acute biliary pain with cholestasis. Lancet. 1993;342:869. Phenylephrine should be used with care in patients with closed angle glaucoma and prostatic enlargement. If you're taking medicines for high blood pressure you shouldn't take Lemsip max all in one, because the decongestant may make your blood pressure medicine less effective. Pregnancy and breast-feeding: This product should not be used in women with a history of pre-eclampsia. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this product if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.

Phenylephrine hydrochloride: Phenylephrine is absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, but has reduced bioavailability by the oral route due to first-pass metabolism. It retains activity as a nasal decongestant when given orally, the drug distributing through the systemic circulation to the vascular bed of the nasal mucosa. When taken by mouth as a nasal decongestant phenylephrine is usually given at intervals of 4-6 hours. Gursoy M, Haznedaroglu IC, Celik I, Sayinalp N, Ozcebe OI, Dundar SV. Agranulocytosis, plasmacytosis, and thrombocytosis followed by a leukemoid reaction due to acute acetaminophen toxicity. Ann Pharmacother. 1996;30:762-5. LEMSIP MAX ALL IN ONE COLD & FLU CAPSULES, LEMSIP COUGH MAX FOR MUCUS COUGH & COLD: 500mg/100 MG/6.1 MG CAPSULES: Each capsule Care is advised in the administration of paracetamol to patients with severe renal or severe hepatic impairment. Leaflet: Immediate medical advice should be sought in the event of an overdose, even if you feel well, because of the risk of delayed, serious liver damage. Caffeine: Caffeine is absorbed readily from oral, rectal or parenteral administration, but absorption from the gastrointestinal tract may be erratic. There is little evidence of accumulation in any particular tissue. Caffeine passes readily into the central nervous system and into saliva. Concentrations have also been detected in breast milk. It is metabolised almost completely and is excreted in the urine as 1-methyluric acid, 1-methylxanthine and other metabolites, with only about 1% unchanged.

fever with or without chills (not present before treatment and not caused by the condition being treated) This medicinal product contains 128.71 mg sodium per dose, equivalent to 6.4 % of the WHO recommended maximum daily intake for sodium. In a study of healthy controls fasted overnight the T max for an equivalent product compared to two tablets of standard paracetamol was 20 minutes versus 35 minutes (p=0.0865). However, the speed to achieve 10 μg/ml for the product was faster than a standard paracetamol (17 minutes versus 30 minutes). This medicinal product contains 120.74 mg sodium per dose, equivalent to 6 % of the WHO recommended maximum daily intake for sodium. There are limited data on the use of guaifenesin in pregnant women. Guaifenesin has been linked with an increased risk of neural tube defects in a small number of women with febrile illness in the first trimester of pregnancy.Lemsip cold & flu sachets contain two active ingredients, the painkiller paracetamol (650mg) and a decongestant called phenylephrine hydrochloride (10mg). Koulouris Z, Tierney MG, Jones G. Metabolic acidosis and coma following a severe acetaminophen overdose. Ann Pharmacother. 1999;33:11 Women who are breastfeeding. (It's not known if phenylephrine passes into breast milk, or its effect on a nursing infant. When taken by mouth, decongestants such as phenylephrine can also temporarily decrease the production of breast milk with just one or two doses. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for further advice.) Tricyclic antidepressants (e.g. amitriptyline): may increase the risk of cardiovascular side effects with phenylephrine (see section 4.3).
