About this deal

It’s honestly incredible just how fun this is, especially since this was created without any complex mechanism or parts. Say hello to the 2020 LEGO Winter Village set – 10275 Elf Club House, the perfect addition to your Christmas LEGO display. In this set, we get a Pirate Ship (a nod to the Creator Pirate Ship)and a keyboard (which references the Grand Piano), and a red propeller, as well as 2 presents. It does have its own unique style, with the tall roof, which has a sharper angle, and two windows that emerge out each side. Bag 4: Last years Gingerbread House set an incredibly high bar for roof design, one that is unlikely to ever be beaten. But the Elf Club House gives it a good try. It has some steep, dramatic slopes that aren't often seen in LEGO houses, and as long as you can look past the small gap where the roof sections join, you'll love the final look, especially the curvy edges. It would have been so easy to design this with the straight edge but the designer took that specific step to add depth to the roofline. The main roof section is also held on by so little it's a complete mystery to me how it seems so solid and secure.

Last but not least of the mini builds is this amazing retro desktop computer, with Elf looking up Santa’s Nice List. You think Facebook is bad because they have so much data on you? Wait till you see Santa’s file on you. This year’s design is a breath of fresh air, and I love the use of 2 x 1 cutout wedges to give the tree its angled shape and sense of texture. It’s easy to get started because the set comes with coffee-table-style building instructions, complete with design details. Like all LEGO Winter Village sets, the Elf Club House comes with an assortment of mini LEGO models, which often reference current LEGO sets. It’s been tradition on the blog to publish my review of this year’s Winter Village set around Christmas, but LEGO were kind enough to offer the set for review, and I couldn’t wait till December. The use of studs embedded into the tree itself works remarkbly well visually, and I love the feeling of discovering and building each year’s Christmas tree. It's the most wonderful time of the year...Obviously I'm talking about the release of the next Winter Village set. The Winter Village sets are probably the biggest factor for coming out of my dark ages. I tend to like the more realistic ones so for a second year in a row I'm uncertain on how keen I am on the fantasy subject matter. Last year's Gingerbread House won me over, let's see if the Elf Club House can do the same (spoiler alert, my Christmas addiction probably means it will!) Contents: The Set The Elf Clubhouse joins 2014’s Santa’s Workshop and last year’s Gingerbread House as a fantasy-themed expansion of LEGO’s beloved Winter Village theme, which is a personal favourite of mine.

This is an easy, easy set to recommend to buy, as you’ll enjoy every moment of the set. With LEGO being in such short supply this year, I wouldn’t hesitate in pulling the trigger on the Elf Club House, especially if you want to avoid missing out for Christmas this year. There are no names afforded to the Elves, although the “leader” can be inferred by the red scarf. They have all sorts of cheery expressions on their face, which is exactly what you’d expect from indentured magical creatures. If you’re looking to recreate the cozy feeling of your favorite Christmas memories, we’ve got the perfect thing for you – the LEGO® Elf Club House (10275). It’s the ideal way to enjoy quality time with a sugar-sweet DIY project. Build the intricately detailed Elf Club House then explore all its merry features. The interiors are tiny, but they managed to squeeze in some furniture, and a sitting area, which is a great use of what little space they had.

Rating

This just filled me with so much joy about how random this is, yet it fits the overall playful theme of this set so well. The first instruction booklet covers the first two bags of parts, and includes everything that isn’t part of the club house structure itself. It has the Christmas tree, a selection of gifts, a sleigh, a scarf-wearing elf and Brixen. These builds don’t really interact with the club house at all, so it could be a good opportunity to share the work around with a bit of family building. You know, if this set wasn’t meant just for adults. (I’m almostdone complaining about that.)

The Reindeer pulls a small basic sleigh, which has pearl gold embellishments which contrast nicely against the red and white.I adore this set. Sure I've complained along the way, there's bits I don't love, but that's because a perfect set doesn't exist. My complaints over the chimney, boring Minifigures, and small footprint are completely wiped away by how great this set looks and how fun it is to play with. It was a great build, nothing groundbreaking just solid fun, and Chris McVeigh's skills are on full show. Anyone who knows his work as a LEGO artist before joining LEGO will immediately recognise his fingerprints on the small furnishings. The old school PC is a great example of his ability to create small, simple, yet brilliant, mundane items. Bag 2: Onto the house. Immediately you notice now tight the floorprint is, a sharp contrast to the sprawling two story Gingerbread House last year. By the end of the bag you have the second floor in place. The wrap station is just flawless, I love it when small details grab me like this, they make a model so much more interesting. It's a shame we didn't get more space to flesh out the rest of the Elves living area. Last year, in my review of set Gingerbread House, I spoke a little about Winter Village sets and Christmas LEGO in general. You can also read other WInter Village / Christmas articles using the links below. The Elf Club House is a fun little set, that expands on the Winter Village by providing a base of operations and accommodation for Santa’s hardworking Elves.

Create something truly magical with your family this holiday period. Savor the build then enjoy a wonderful festive display model that will bring seasonal cheer to your home year after year. New LEGO animals are always a moment to celebrate, and I’m very pleased with the overall design, which we first saw with the LEGO Patronus from last year’s Expecto Patronum set.The design of the Elf Club House is immediately recognizable as belonging to the Winter Village, thanks to the iconic sloped snow-blanketed roof and inclusion of the chimney. The LEGO Reindeer is an absolutely great addition, and a must-have for any Winter Village. I really, really wish LEGO had bumped the price up slightly to accommodate for another reindeer, or a few more Elves.
