Every aspect of the new campus has been designed with learners in mind and is being carefully created to give students the best experience and facilities for their course. Without going down the ‘SUV coupe’ route, Honda has given its new HR-V sportier looks than most rivals. Last night B&K Structures attended the Wood Awards, alongside representatives from Stora Enso, Engenuiti and HLM Architects, where our project NMIS (National Manufacturing Institute of Scotland) was highly commended for the Structural Award in the Building category. The Wood Awards is the UK’s premier competition for excellence in architecture and product design in wood. The elite independent judging panel not only judges all submitted entries but also visits the shortlisted projects in person, making the Wood Awards a uniquely rigorous competition. Established in 1971, the Wood Awards recognises, encourages and promotes outstanding wood design, craftsmanship and installation. The new NMIS headquarters pushes the boundaries for the application of engineered timber, creating a BREEAM Outstanding, inspirational learning environment with a unique structural identity.Due to be completed in Spring 2024, B&K Hybrid Solutions have been appointed to design, fabricate and erect 575 tonnes of hot rolled structural steelwork and 165 tonnes of cold rolled steelwork. The speculative industrial five-unit scheme exemplifies our capabilities and credentials within this sector, where we are consistently producing high quality portal frames, on time and to an exceptional standard.
