Primarily because it took a direction with regards to mates that didn’t sit right with me. I won’t say too much because I feel readers/listeners should have the chance to experience it for themselves and draw their own conclusions, but it left me feeling less than satisfied and things just felt unbalanced. I also found that when it came to the narration of the story, there were some words and names in particular that the narrators pronounced differently. Now while I’m used to chalking it up to different parts of the world say things differently, in this case it felt like the names in particular the narrators and their vastly different pronunciation sometimes took me out of the moment and had me wondering who they were talking about. I felt like it was problematic and could have been solved by maybe consulting the author and then at least both of them would have been saying it the same way even if us listeners would have said it differently in our real lives. All in all, the storyline and pacing were interesting enough to want to finish and see it through once I started. I just found myself wishing certain things had been done differently. As I looked on him, his countenance expressed the utmost extent of malice and treachery. The story felt rushed and it felt that if the book was a duology or trilogy or each mate had their own books it would be better. If you’re anything like me, Rhysand and Feyre have one of the best relationship arcs throughout any of the books!lt rushed and i didn't feel that we got to actual see the FMC with each mate and we didn't get to see them develop their relationship as they had to rush off to find the next mate and the next mate and the next one. Praying mantises are somewhat notorious for this behavior, but it doesn’t happen as often as you might think. Rhys gifts Feyre by showing her the land for a new home for them with “room for a nursery”, and she can decorate it to her heart’s content! And I decided that I had to scare Tamlin. And that’s where we leave off with the story of Rhysand and Feyre. I cannot wait to see what comes next for them and the rest of the cast of characters in this series! The story plot has potential and the characters though well written were not given space to be more and to see more of them. The book starts with Belladonna walking in the graveyard. As it turns out, that is where she lives because her father is so fearful of how strong she is. He’s afraid because she is basically death incarnate. She can turn anyone and anything into ash with just a thought. She can also give people nightmares, which is what she did to her father after the last time he hurt her.
