About this deal

In an ideal world, you’d never leave a dog alone with a chew toy. But it’s sometimes hard to avoid, especially if you are away from the house for long periods of time.

Many dog owners have found the Nylabone Dura Chew Textured Ring to be a reliable and long-lasting toy for their dogs. Some users have reported that the Nylabone Dura Chew Textured Ring has been able to withstand months or even years of heavy chewing from their dogs. Made right here in the USA, this bone-shaped chew toy is incredibly durable, floats in water, and can even be washed in the dishwasher. But as experienced dog owners will tell you, they never seem to chew on cheap things, unless they are exceptionallymessy. Customers of the Kong Goodie Bone have provided this to the toughest of dog chewers, and months down the line, they still have the same bone. This is a fantastic product again by Kong, who does know what our dogs need. But most importantly, the dense rubber held strong even as tough jaws frantically attempted to reach the dog treats hidden inside.

GoughNuts launched their first product in 2006, the Original Ring dog toy. The company noticed that there was a need for a safer dog toy that was both tougher and more durable than others. Their Original Ring design has no weak points and was designed to withstand months or even years of hard chewing. The dog toys that are indestructible in the Super Chewer Box were made of tough materials, seemingly designed to withstand even the most aggressive chewers. My dog’s favorite was a rubber toy shaped like a tug-of-war rope. It was perfect for interactive play and held up remarkably well, showing no signs of wear and tear after several intense play sessions. The other toy, a nylon bone, was also a hit with my pup, providing him with endless chewing entertainment.

With this in mind, all overly hard chew toys were eliminated from contention. This included popular brands such as Nylabone and Benebone, which are famous for their nylon chew toys.

Other veterinarians recommended the fingernail method. If you can’t press your fingernail into the surface of the chew toy, then it’s hard enough to break teeth – a good chew toy should dent when under pressure. This toy is designed for dogs who have destroyed almost every other toy on the market. Are There Any Other Options? I’m going to be honest with you… It was quite challenging to narrow down the perfect chew toy for tiny dogs.

For larger dogs, like Labradors, that require regular chewing, this chew bone also helps with chewing stimulation. As for those who chew until they’ve either fallen asleep or completely destroyed the item, there are two breeds that come to mind: bull terriers and boxers. Now, power chewers come in all shapes and sizes. This made choosing a single winner a difficult task. For example, despite their size, Dachshunds can dish out some serious damage by aggressively chewing on the same spot over and over. However, when it comes to carrying their chew toy around, many hard rubber chew toys are too heavy for them to carry comfortably. We found hundreds of dog chew toys throughout our search, but finding the perfect chew toys that cannot break apart was more difficult. These rings float and are simple to throw so your dog can have hours of fun in the water or out in the fields without worrying about anything.

Discard damaged or small toys: Promptly trash any broken or damaged toys. These are serious choking and ingestion hazards, as well as risks for mouth lacerations if they have sharp edges. Toys that are too small for your dog should also be trashed or donated to local shelters if they’re still in good condition.

Dog chew toys are important for virtually all breeds; including the tiniest Chihuahuas and the most gentlemanly Boston terriers. Treating your dog to a Rawhide Alternative is a great way to treat it but can make it more difficult to stop your dog from chewing on things around the house. Using food to teach your dog to stop can cause chewing to increase. This rules out things like antlers and bones, which are far too hard; as well as tennis balls, which most dogs can easily tear them to pieces. Tennis balls make great fetch toys, but they shouldn’t be used as tough chew toys. However, the Goughnuts MaXX is too heavy for smaller dogs to carry around. Fortunately, Goughnuts also makes a version for breeds 10 – 40 pounds. Based on my testing, this toy is suitable for power chewers up to the size of an adult Corgi.
