It has those mafia vibes, though I don't feel it was ever fully presented except to explain where all these families and people knew each other from (though that could have to do with where I stopped). It was apparent that the characters surrounding the story were from other books. Would I have appreciated the story more if I read those books? I don't know. I'm leaning on no, though. This story didn't draw me in. The characters didn't draw me in. I felt less lost in the story and more like my head was trying to escape it. The dialogue felt too...staged? And I could not get myself to like Rowan. Could not. James is deeply fascinated by the many different kinds of police work, especially how it tends to change over time. His research on the Grace novels, he claims, has given him insight into the daily life of a detective. What are the Roy Grace books all about? I adored this book. It had everything a good thriller book should. A ton of mysteries to solve, a few red herrings, multiple (and usually messed up) PoVs, and a nail-biting ending. I'm a little surprised that he is asking a lot of questions because usually in the car he won't talk at all or even when we are just sitting next to each other doing nothing he won't ask me anything even though I could have signed to him" Consider this is a YA book, I decided to just cool with the way these teens think. They're annoying, dramatic, gossips here and there, crush on boys and girls, judgmental and all that attitudes associate with teens. I was once a teen, so go figure.Unfortunately the poorly kept chateau holds more mysteries and threats beyond the sinister decor and mangy pets.

The first act does well to build the suspicion of something being seriously wrong, aided by well-timed lighting cues and ominous swells of sinister music. The set design by Michael Holt adds a gloomy and threatening feel to the scenes which are being played out, giving an unmistakeable sense of impending doom. It is very reminiscent of And Then There Were None and The Mousetrap but the dialogue and the pacing of the storytelling Manchmal jedoch werden Wünsche wahr. Katie McGlynn (who we recently interviewed) overacted and, in some places, it felt she was shouting her way through some of the tenser scenes instead of developing the fear that was required of the character. This story tells us how many bad things can happen on the internet, how cruel and crazy some people are, how from a "little bullying" can come something so bad like you couldn't imagine before, how little things can affect people's life. Everyone should be more careful what things they write on the internet because anyone can read it after they uploaded it. Now Lucy is gone. Did she run off with her boyfriend? Is she just trying to scare everyone? Or was she kidnapped? When there is no demand for a ransom, people begin to suspect more sinister motives are involved.

firstly, this book had such short chapters i was so grateful i literally breezed through this book through bus rides on the bus to school. The one thing that didn’t really make sense to me was Madison’s cyberstalker. It is revealed at the end who it is but I don’t get why it had to be part of the book. It didn’t really add anything to the story and it wasn’t really clear why the person was stalking her. It just confused me a little. It wasn’t needed and there was already enough going on in the book without that. ROWAN BEING 𝙊𝘽𝙎𝙀𝙎𝙎𝙀𝘿 WITH HER LIKE ODNDHBSJS ROWAN IS THE MAN. THE STANDARD. HIM BEING SO SOFT WITH HER LITERALLY MELTED MY HEART.

Jane and Rowan both went through so much in such a young age at that. They didn't deserve anything that happened to them. When I read about what Rowan went through I could not hold in anymore. I felt so bad for him cause he did not deserve all that. But they both were so strong after going through such traumatic experiences🥹 The first Roy Grace book, Dead Simple, was released in 2005 by Pan Macmillan. The tagline read, “Four bodies, one suspect, no trace. The first case for Detective Superintendent Roy Grace.” From there, the story begins with a prank gone wrong. Michael Harrison disappears into the big city without a trace. I don't want to give too much away so I'll just say this is a wonderful creepy thriller filled with suspense and nail biting moments. A fun who-dun-it! Join DSI Roy Grace and Cleo Morley as they take their first family holiday together and a well earned break from their crime solving exploits.
