About this deal

Here’s a few ideas for warbands that are both fun to play and embody the character and style of the Slaves to Darkness warbands. They aren’t competitive win-all lists, mind. Darkoath Wartribe First, you could go all in on Horsemen and play to their strengths around reach and objective play. Movement 10″, high Wounds and weapons with good reach gives you a lot of control over the battlefield, and you have some awesome mounted Leaders to choose from – but terrain is a problem for them. His abilities are wildly different, however, and most changed for the better. Crown of Domination is now a 12” no Rally or Inspiring Presence bubble which is far better than a piddly Bravery +2 or -2 Buff/Debuff. Three-headed titan is now a Heroic Action, which is going to sting a bit as you’re using it instead of your free CP or Finest Hour. To compensate, the abilities are much better with the Nurgle head doing damage that scales to unit size, the Khorne head able to eat a unit to regain health and the Tzeentch head hurting the Wizard when dispelling an endless spell.

You’re going to need to choose if you want to build with or without Archaon The Everchosen because he’s extremely expensive. At almost half your list he can pull his weight but you need to build around him. You might see some people online say he got worse, I’d argue he isn’t that much worse, he was just taken down a peg in other Chaos factions where he got to break mechanics over his knee (namely, Tzeentch). He used to be able to join any mono-god faction due to having all the keywords and now the rules have changed around him so he really only gets to shine in Slaves to Darkness. Honestly, I think its the right move for the sake of balance. The Chaos Knights kit lets you build 10 Chaos Knights with either Cursed Lance and Chaos Runeshield or Ensorcelled Weapon and Chaos Runeshield. One of them can be built as a Doom Knight. It’s rumoured in the Warhammer+ offices that Ben is just weeks away from achieving full daemonhood. These have been broken off into 3 tables with 3 for each: One for any Hero, one for Wizards and one for Daemon Princes.

Third, you could combine the two, with one or two battle groups being Marauders/Chosen, and the last group(s) being Horsemen. Before a warrior may attempt to prove themselves worthy of the Varanguard, they must be summoned by a sign of Chaos. This omen can take many forms – perhaps the likeness of the Everchosen in the flames of a burning keep as its defenders scream for death, Archaon’s silhouette formed from a spray of arterial blood upon a carrion-littered battlefield, or the Everchosen’s name howled in unison by the plague-choked throats of a hundred corpses. When a warrior sees such a sign, there can be no mistaking that they have been called into Archaon’s service. [2a] The Sixth Circle, known as the Blades of Desolation, are employed by the Everchosen, in the same manner, a labourer might employ a sledgehammer, to leave their target utterly shattered. It is claimed that none can stand against them when they ride to battle. Few fortresses in the Mortal Realms can rival the Varanspire, found at the heart of the Allpoints, in scope. The imposing fortress serves as the seat of Archaon's power and the capital of his empire, so naturally, it is here where the knights of the Varanguard are often found when not in battle. One seeking to become a Varanguard and is on his required eight trials. Is still a fierce opponent and has countless dead to his name. [4a] Combat

Ensure no son of Guilliman goes without custom MKVI accessories that cleave close to the deep traditions of Ultramar with elegant restraint. These resin MKVI upgrade kits can mark out your brightest and best warriors on the battlefield. After you’ve watched those, you can treat yourself to some classic White Dwarf as issues 309 and 308 get added to the Warhammer Vault. Does D3 mortals on a 2+ and halves movement characteristic. Costed a bit too much before at 85 but 60 might be a more fair asking price now. Darkfire Daemonrift Low standard damage not helped by universal Strength buff ability. Some fun thematic warbands for the Slaves to Darkness Swordbands Chaos Lord on Daemonic Mount (it’s just called Lord on Daemonic Mount on the GW webstore for some reason) As a proud Mortisan myself, I took control of the elite warriors of Nagash – it’s actually my own army we use in the game – while actual real-life Chaos worshipper Ben commands the Slaves to Darkness. If you’ve ever wanted to see what happens when a bunch of angry, heavily armoured brutes charge into unwavering lines of elite skeletal warriors, then this is the show for you.
