About this deal

When a regular plastic cement takes 2-3 minutes to set up completely, Tamiya’s extra thin adhesive only takes 10 seconds to set, thanks to its capillary action mechanism. This is one of the most popular extra thin types of cement for plastic model kits available on the market. It comes in a small 40ml jar typical for chemicals made by Tamiya. This amount of glue is enough for numerous models and will last for a long time. I believe I was able to build about ten 1/48 scale aircraft models and three 1/35 scale tank models with just one jar.

All the danger precautions outlined must be followed because emptied bottles still contain product leftovers (vapor, liquid, or solid). Tamiya’s extra thin cement makes effective use of this capillary action by filling every small gap between the two surfaces you’re attempting to join. Like its earlier counter part, it stinks to high heaven due to the solvent levels. Prolonged use does give headaches so that has to be factored in when using it. Here is my beginner-friendly model photography tutorial that teaches everything from taking pictures to the editing process. Beginner Wax – The wax I recommended earlier is good and provides the best results based on my experience. But a beginner might have a problem especially if they’re not good at applying wax. Solid wax reaching hard to reach surface can be hard to remove. You have two choices here. One is to use a qtips to reach those surfaces, another is to use a liquid wax I recommended.

To use the Tamiya extra thin cement, you simply hold the model together by applying the glue using the tiny brush (included in the cap) to the joint and waiting for about 40 seconds for it to dry completely. You can also use the extra thin cement as a thinner by mixing it with regular cement if necessary. Plastic Kit Freak, a Youtuber, prefers to use extra-thin glue to support the regular Tamiya cement. The nose, throat, lungs, and eyes might be irritated by breathing in moderate to high concentrations of acetone for a short period of time. [1] Make the Wheels Shine! – Making our models look good won’t be complete without tiny details such as shiny wheels! Do not forget this because however small this is, the difference can be as big as night and day.

It is also a great helper when you need to create the glass of positional and other lights on a model. Just a put small blob of the glue where you want the “glass” to form and leave it to dry. When dry, it is possible to paint the “glass” with acrylic clear paints such as Tamiya’s X-27 Clear Red.Mild irritation of the nose, throat, eyes, and skin has been observed in persons who breathed higher quantities of butanone. [2] Tamiya Extra Thin Cement is a well-known plastic cement among modelers worldwide. Moreover, it’s available in the majority of professional modeler’s workshops. The glue can be used to glue canopies of aircraft models or windscreens of car models without fear of them getting damaged. If you accidentally put the glue where you don’t want it, just wipe it off with a moistened q-tip. The glue is waterproof when cured. For example, a bit of isopropyl alcohol can be used to remove the cured glue. Butanone is a natural substance produced by some trees that you can find in some fruits and vegetables.

Waxing and Polishing – Here is something a lot of people don’t know. Waxing protects the clear coat and paint while polishing shines the model. Instead of buying it separately, use a 2 in 1 to save money. Get this instead. Removing Decal Adhesive – Use Goo Gone on those hard-to-remove decal adhesives. It works fast and works like charm! It is in fact pretty much the same thing as your regular white glue such as Elmer’s. Now you may be asking what on Earth you should pay so much for such a small bottle of PVA glue. The answer is that, unlike other glues, this one is guaranteed to dry crystal clear. Most normal PVA glues will not be as clear as the Micro Kristal Klear when they cure. Properties of Tamiya Extra Thin Cement. You can find more information on the Extra thin cement on Tamiya cement vs. Extra thin cement. So, if you overdo it, Tamiya’s extra thin cement will flow towards the surface you’re holding, and you’ll finish up leaving a fingerprint on it. Capillary action acts in reverse on the melting plastic because the chemicals are so potent and the glue is so thin.

The strong, pungent odor can assist you in avoiding inhaling dangerously high concentrations of acetone. People who inhaled butanone detected its sweet and strong odor at a concentration of 5-8 parts of butanone per million parts of air (5-8 ppm). CA glues can also be used as a filler instead of a filling putty. Just keep in mind that fully cured super glue is a much harder material than the polystyrene plastic used to make model kits. Therefore, it’s a good idea to start sanding the filled spot before the glue is fully cured. In addition, most advertising networks offer you a way to opt out of targeted advertising.
